Default Steering Problems

Hi all,

I have been have some really bad steering problems lately. I can feel the steering wheel vibrate while the wheels are grinding as i turn hard while moving slowly. I thought it may have needed a wheel allignment because the outside edge of the tyres are eaten at. When we checked it, we found that the allignment was perfectly fine.

The guy who did it told me probably steering box or steering rack will be at fault. How much would it cost roughly to change one of these and could there be anything else causing it? Does anyone also find they have this problem. Also what other problems could cause it to do this?

Thank you all very much for your time.
I will see you guys tonight on the cruise.
Bill.
