Default headlamp replacement

Has anyone else found it stupidly hard to replace globes in the 2003 focus? I bought some xenons today and fitted them it was the biggest s.hit fight i have ever had with a car.

Its so tight under the hood of that thing. Is there a simple way to change the globes? I had to unscrew the whole headlamp and there was this very inaccesable screw right under the car (had to crawl under to get to it very very awkward) to finally get the damn thing out. The cover on the back of the lamp doesnt come off unless you take the whole thing out of the car. The right hand lamp has the battery cover in the way and the right left one has all the pipes (radiator coolant stuff) and cruise module.

Now i hope i did it the hard way cos theres no way its that hard? right? Anyone actually know the quick way to get them out?
