shocks are all the same height.
Forte spring has 11 coils. XR spring has 9 coils. Ghia spring has 13 coils. It's not just about spring length, but depends on the number of coils, and the wind, the thickness of the spring etc. Essentially, the number of coils determines the comfort of the spring, while the "squishiness" rate and thickness of the spring determine how much the spring compresses. If you cut approx 1.5 coils off the Forte spring, you end up at XR height, which means the XR spring is stiffer as the lower number of remaining coils (9 vs 9.5) results in the same ride height, but a firmer ride in the XR. Why do you ask?

XR FRONT springs are 15 1/2" (395mm) in length. This measurement is from an XR spring that my brother has yet to install. Are the rear springs all the same? If so I can get him to measure those tomorrow. |

I just checked again and he followed the original email with another which states that the FRONT XR shocks are 415mm from centre of bolt hole to top of "tube" excluding "plunger rod". I guess he's talking about the body of the shockie. I'll confirm that for you and report back when he replies tomorrow. |
