Default Motorcraft Plug Help

Hi All,

I'm wondering if someone can help me with some plug questions.

I got some plugs from Bayford Parts for my AU1.

My Ford Service book says that the plugs I need are Motorcraft AGS42CC, but the items I got today are AGS33C.

Looking at the pics of them, you can see that the tip will go deeper into the combustion chamber. Is there any problem with this?

Also, is there a difference in heat range?

If they were NGK or such I’d have an idea of how to interpret the numbers for spark gap / heat range etc, etc, but Motorcraft plugs are new to me.

Here's the linky to the the ad on Bayford Parts.

Cheers,

GK

Not unless the piston hits them : I would check back with Ford before you put them in

I think the longer reach plugs are for AU VCT's & XR6's.
The parts bloke might have got the models mixed up.

AGS42CC are listed in my owner's manual and Max Ellery's for AU1. Thanks for the heads up about the AGS33C being for E- series.

I also just found that the dual fuel plug recommendation in both the above manuals is AGS23CC, which is also the same plug recommendation as the XR(both VCT and HP engines).

Cheers,

GK

Go back to BayFord and get them replaced for the correct ones.

Just got some more info today. The AGS42CC plugs are Motorcraft as made by Champion. The W16EXRU11 items are Motorcraft as made by NGK. Either will do.

I've been emailing them to arrange a swapover. I've asked for the W16EXRU11 items but would be happy with the AGS42CC items as well.

Cheers,

Just got some more info from Bayford Parts yesterday, which I checked out with two more Ford dealers.

The AGS33C with the longer electrode is an updated part for S1 AU Falcons. It can be used with dual fuel or petrol.

I'll just gap them to 0.9 before putting them in.

Cheers,

GK
