i would just like to know if anyone knows how many litrers to 100km there EA 3.9litrer gose through, because my ghia eat's more fuel than my fathers BA xr8.

Same, i'm getting 250km's to a 68 litre tank :

550km to a 65L, a mix of Highway and city km. If I get heavy with the right foot that figure drops to 360km to a tank.

I get about 600km from my 68L tank. It was funny, the other week I was basically running it off fumes (I usually fill up when the gauge is down to a quarter) and I put 70L into my 68L tank. :

when running cfi i was getting about 300-350, now that im running mpfi im getting on average 400.

a couple of months ago i put in 73 litres....i could hear the pump wirring a bit, i think the only fuel in the car was in the rail...

When I bought my car it was running cold due to a faulty thermostat and I was getting ridiculous fuel figures. It had the mechanics stumped until they figured that out.

If so, I only recommend genuine Ford thermostats.

i quite often got over 70L into my ED's 68L tank...its the filler neck that takes the extra juice...

Correct and then If like me your Fuel pump ring isnt done up enough, then happen to get some chicken from KFC. Come back out to see 1/4 of a tank washed down the carpark :

my EBII fairmont drinks alot of petrol, its really a bi*** now since petrol prices has got sky rocket, btw from the UNITED petrol station has anyone used "Unleaded Plus" or something is good? would i have to put any additives in. From my friends opinion he used it on his EA Ghia he said the economy is better and more power, im unsure but i would like to know your opinion guys

I get fantastic economy in my Eb wagon, bout 600-650kms for the 70L tank. trip meter averages about 10L/100kms. Both mixed driving. T5 gearbox with 3.08 gears.

600km approx on the highway, maybe a bit more. Drove from Renmark to Ballarat with a couple of stops sitting on 100kmph (about 6 hrs drive). Those EAs really like those long trips.

EA Fairmont ghia,3.9mpfi, 3 speed auto and the aircon on the whole way.

I have this problem, my car never really gets past the line at the start of normal, I have changed the thermostat, but it still won't heat up. Well it just starts getting into normal in the warm up, but once the thermostat opens, there is no chance. I bought my thermostats at Autobarn, can't recall if they were genuine or not, maybe I'll try again with a genuine one.

The genuine Ford one costs little over $20. There are other things that can cause cold running, possibly oxygen sensors? Thermofans assist with quicker warm-ups.

For what it's worth, when I had my faulty thermostat fixed it was replaced with a non-genuine. I was running the car one day and watching the temp creep higher and higher into the red. It seems the new thermostat had already stuffed up. I only use genuine after that!

i get 400km out of a full tank of el premo, at about 15 - 16L per 100km though it does go higher : goes like sh!t as well, even in my mates corolla i can get a squeek when you plant your foot.....not mine it's like its scared to go to 2k rpm, but once over 3k rpm she's........alright, hate the weakness of eb's

like a few others who posted in this thread, my temp guage has never ventured into the 'normal' reigon, choosing to remain in the area between the blue section and normal section.

My car is bone stock, two owner.. im hoping with a set of extractors and a decent exhaust, the fuel consumption figures will improve, even slightly, given the price of petrol...

i had a genuine ford one that let the car heat up way too much before opening, only had it for a month or two figured since it was genuine that was supposed to happen and then my headgasket went!

new one is genuine too tho and it is perfect...

Yes my ea has a pretty dented up radiator but the temp guage still doesnt go into the "normal"

as far as i am aware, everything in mine is original and from the looks of it, undamaged. might get the thermostat looked at

Thats your ISC playing up, my car did it untill i cracked it and threw the Isc at the wall :P

The ISC seems to be the bain of everyones existance in the e series crew.... mine gives me the s, doesnt like to idle to much at all.... I 'think' ive cleaned it out, ive just sprayed a bucket load of carby cleaner in it, give it a shake around, tip it out and then let it dry, is that all thats involved in cleaning them?
