Hey guys, i have a 06 LX focus.
While i was traveling with one of my friends who has a 07 Zetec i noticed that he had the Instant Fuel consumption display in his dash. So when i got my service done at the dealer i asked to get the latest software updates and upon picking up my car i noticed that this instant fuel consumption wasn't added. Just wondering is there anyway to get this switched on and if it will be added with the next software update? Cheers |

does he have an LT or LS?
It might also be the spec level, LX vs Zetec - I think the manual mentions something about it maybe others can chime in what spec/model they have and what their trip computers show |

LT Zetec here and it does show it, so sounds like it was a change between LS and LT models

We have an LS LX and LT LX
Both only show average fuel consumption, not instantaneous So it looks like an LT Zetec only feature (not sure about Ghia or XR5 models though) |

A software upgrade will not give you the instant fuel consumption reading sorry. It's got to be in the cluster from factory.
If you really wanted it maybe you could look at swapping your cluster to a later and higher series Focus cluster to get it, but I don't know if the vehicle computer will be able to comunicate with the new cluster or not? Anyone know? |

From my experience in other cars, i've found the instantaneous consumption to be pointless. Floor the car and the consumption goes up heaps, coast along on a downhill bit of road and the consumption goes down heaps. I don't need a computer to tell me that.
I find the average consumption read out much more beneficial, especially if it backs up the mental maths i do when i fill up at the pump to work out the average consumption for a tank of fuel. |

My LT TDCi doesn't have instantaneous, I asked about it at the last service but as usual the guy didn't know anything.
