my car for instance used to drink more fuel than gas /100k's

still does, but it runs gas most of the time

in your case, with timing done, and a good tune on a dyno, you will have performance, economy, and good time.

I got the wade 1004 112(i think) in my car with a tickford head and i recorded a
large decrease in fuel consumption after the ECU learnt the cam. Idle now is almost normal (ie, rough but doesnt hunt)

both those cams are pretty good, the 1636 works a bit better down low than the 112, my 112 kicked in at about 3000 rpm

from what i've seen the 1004 112 makes better power, but the 1636 is smoother/better idle, might also have better low down power
