I thought it was a strange choice, I can understand supporting a whole league like NRl but to pick one team in afl and make it collingwood. While they may be the most supported they are also the most hated. so there are 15 clubs full of supporters that hate them, fail to see how that can be good marketing unless they are going to bring back the vn as seen above!

Yawn, how predictable. Bogan this, bogan that in a thread about Holden/Collingwood. Do people honestly believe that no bogan Geelong supporters or Ford owners exist out there? You only have to look at some of the toothless ferals around the Norlane/Corio area in Geelong to see otherwise. What's that saying about people in glass houses?

To start with, they have NOT been given bail out funds. They have been given investment funds which they needed to more than match what the government put in (just like Ford & Toyota have). Just because Holden (or any company) has received investment funds doesn’t mean they can't spend money on marketing. If that is the case I expect all of you to jump up & down every time you see a Falcon or Territory add because they received government money & shouldn’t market there product. Sponsoring these teams & sports helps Holden built brand loyalty. This loyalty makes people go out & buy Holden car. And why was it OK for Toyota to sponsor these sports last year?

Ford are the ones we should be angry at. They get all these funds from the government & they dont spend any of there own money to makert the product. That is the real crime here!!
Well said. The government co-investment grants are NOT used to fund advertising budgets, but people conveniently disregard this fact and continue to use their flawed theories and arguments to stick their boots into Holden.

Another thing I find amusing is that those who are most strongly opposed to government grants are those who then turn around and support the Asian or Euporean economies by buying an imported car. Go figure.

C'mon people grow up, this is business.

GMH want value for money ie: exposure for their advertising dollars.

There is NO loyalty, if a Collingwood jumper with their Logo gets more media exposure than the Simpson Desert junior 3rds football club where do you think they're going to spend the money?.

Not sure of the exact numbers involved with Collingwood from a business point of view.

And that about sums it up.

It is a business deal designed to raise the public profile and judging by the number of people who are talking about both Holden and Collingwood it appears to be quite successful.

Most of he posts here do not comply with at least one section the T&C.
