Default Cruize Control

Has anyone here put in the AfterMarket Cruize control like the AP60 you can buy at placers like Supercheap , autobarn , K-mart , Repco , Bursons .

The ppl i have spoke to at these places ALL say that yes you can put it into ANY car but i have done a search on FordMods and there is nothing about the AP60 there .

Its to be a X'mass Present for my folks in there EF .
I know they work as i have 1 in my EA but Cruize in the later model cars are electrical control not vacuum control ..

Cheers

and have a Good Holidays

If you can, examine the possibility of retrofitting the factory cruise system using parts from the wreckers. It would look far neater and integrated and would probably be cheaper too.
Those aftermarket c/c systems usually work on a great big long stalk which looks ugly as.

I thought all ef falcons would have abs. I have seen a lot of ed falcons with the abs sticker on the back, so I doubt they would have deleted it for the ef, unless I have only seen it on a classic.

EFFalcon I read about how you did it But my folks dont have A.B.S. I have a compleat setup out of a EL that i was going to fit in but as there car dont have A.B.S. and my mother wont let me pull the dash out AND they want it dont now before they leave on the 28th I thought that a AfterMarket one will help them .

But if some one knowes how to hook up a EL factory cruise system to the car Can you PLEASE let me know a.s.a.p.

Dead easy to install factory cruise to an EF/L. Should cost ni more than around $130 from a wreckers for all the bits.

A few years back, I posted everything required and the steps on the other FF, so it could be 'mined'.

However, a quick guide -

Remove neg terminal on battery, wait half an hour then remove airbag + unplug its wiring.

Use torx tool to remove steering wheel (size 45 from memory) bolt, remove round black module and wiring.
Remove wheel - can be hard to pull off, buy a cheap steering wheel puller.

Either use donor backing shell or cut the existing shell to fit switches, you can see the outline in the plastic if you cut it.

Note, I can't remember 100%, but if you choose to cut the shell, you may not have to remove the wheel which is a big bonus.

Screw switches in place and assemble all wiring/round module, then throw bag back on.

Under the bonnet, manouvre the CC module into its mounting point under that piece of metal to the side of the brake booster, this can take some trick manouvering.

Oh, you will need to remove a dummy plastic plug from the existing wiring loom to allow the module to plug in - its fairly obvious where this when you look at it.
Route the cable over the engine and it all clips onto the throttle linkage.

Use a self tapping bolt to mount the cable bracket to the top of the rocker cover.

Attach the brake sensor switch to the master cylinder, it will have an electrical connector that attaches to the CC module too.

I can't recall what autos have, but under the dash around where the clutch pedal would be, there should be a loose connector on a loom, you should have got a loop back connector from the wreckers that plugs into this.

Reconnect battery then go test it. The bulb should already be on the dash so no need to remove the dash to fit one.

I think thats about it, all pretty straight forwards and should take about half an hour.

just a quick Q may be related or slightly off topic

as the variations in models differ ie gli, spac/classic, fairmont, fairmont ghia the wiring looms differ a bit dont they so you cant just retrofit a cc package out of a fairmont into a gli for example you need the approprate looms too

yeah, but you can quite easily cut down a loom and make it work.
I installed cruise on my EF GLi (no abs) so i had to make my own loom, and it was pretty easy.

The CC kit plugs into existing looms. As CC was an option on all models, it would have been more beneficial to have the looms ready to accept it. It was a dealer fitted option and I borrowed the kits instructions/content list from a contact at a Ford dealer

you're actually wrong.
only cars equipped with ABS had the looms there for Cruise Control.
non-ABS GLi's didnt have any loom for the cruise control, thus i had to add it myself.
