They don't spend billions, but they spend millions doing up HSV specific ESC calibrations etc. Plus all the HSV specific parts like seats, wheels and lights that need go through the same strenuous testing as any Holden product, parts that need to be tested to meet the same standards as any other Australian sold car...more then just bolting on parts.
This is the exactly the same stuff FPV had to deal with... ...And what separates them from other 3rd-party performance product suppliers.

A shrude purchaser could buy a GT-F and with the money they saved purchase a daily driver that returns under 7 l/100km ! |

The GTF has a demand the GTS doesn't and as such can be had for very low $90k drive away. Good news for Ford and its owners hopefully in the future.

but to be fair the surplus on the GTF goes to the dealer, not the manufacturer, so it is still worth recognising that Ford have delivered a much cheaper product......
(not that it makes any difference to someone wanting to get into one) |

The fact remains that the GTS is the faster car down the quarter mile on a like-for-like test, with it also being the quicker car when corners are involved.
