Question starter motor

How hard is it to change a starter motor in a EB I6 falcon? I got a new BXF 129 Bosch starter for $141 as mine is starting to play up by not engaging, just making a whine until i press the air con switch then she kicks over (don't ask me why) I hope i have purchased the right part from supercheap as the guy reckons that all Ford 6 cylinder engines from 1966 to 2005 share the same starter motor, i always thought that the early falcons had a bendix spring and the late model falcons had a reduction gear drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Yeah they're pretty much all interchangeable, but the AU one is smaller and a bit more powerful if I recall correctly.

There are a few threads on replacing the starter motor.

starter motor are very easy to change they are only held on by two bolt top and bottom. its a simpe procedure. bosch only make one size of starter motor that fits from xp falcons right up to au's. thay are the same the guy from supercheap is right. so i think u might have soem other little gremlins in ur car.
