hey guys, as the title says, im adding climate control to my ea s-pack. my fairlane/ltd conversion will not be complete without this. has anybody done this mod, and what tips do you have for me. as the fordmods document does not describe how to do the fan speed controller. hopefully this is as succesful as the instrument cluster and trip computer.

Ive done the conversion to my ED
Dont bother trying to wire it up yourself. Get a complete Ghia or LWB dash and the heaterbox. You can either use your heaterbox and swap the parts over, or just swap the whole assembly. You will need to pull it out of your car, while you're there put in a new heatercore. You cant install the blend door motor without atleast unbolting it from the firewall. If you're using your heaterbox, some plastic will be needed to be cut out to fit the auto fanspeed controller, and there is also a piece of metal inside that has to be removed which can be done through the enlarged fanspeed controller hole (its attached via three external rivets - two near the hole and another near the recirc box) Three holes need to be drilled on the top of the heaterbox to install (rivet) the blend door motor. The electric blend door uses a different attachment to the manual cable one which can be carefully prised off and swapped. The automatic vacuum controller just plugs in, and the screw holes are already there. There are so many bloody wires to the climate control its not worth trying to do it yourself, because one mis-attached wire could take ages to rectify. Just get the whole dash loom from a wreck and swap it. The process is long, but its not that hard if you're patient and take your time. I got eveything back together and working 100% first go.

Yea, easy enuf as martin said. I did mine without removing the heater box or replacing the blend flap, but u gotta use some enginuity to do it. Worked first time also!

i'm about to do a conversion. i'll let ya know how i go, i need wiring diagrams tho! i got everything. i dont wanto change the dash loom. i'm a sparky so if i got a diagram its gonna be a peice of pi55 for me

Since youve already got the dash out, changing the dash loom is alot easier than trying to wire it all up, sparky or not. Swapping the loom is probably one of the quickest parts of it, probably do it in half an hour. Would take you tha long just to cut all the lengths of wires needed for the job, letalone crimping them and finding where they all go.

I did it to my EL XR6 over christmas, would do as others have said, just get a high series loom, saves SO much time...I work in an avionics workshop so am handy with wiring myself, but meh....why bugger around with making wires up when the loom can be had for a few bucks...
