My wife took the Focus down to the local pool tonight and a stupid 20 year old P Plater in a Barina backed into the front bumper bar , which put a big crack in it. She wants us to take it to this back- yard panel beater to get it fixed, to get the job done quick so she doesn't have to go through her insurance. Like hell I will be. She's got another thing coming to her. It took us 4 months to get it from when we ordered it and we've only had it 5 months. There's no way I'll accept a patch job, it's to have a Zetec new front bumper put on it. The car hasn't even got a stone chip in it.

Tonner - Just go with the insurance company. They will sort it all out. I remember when a lady backed into me when I was in my parent's car. She didn't admit to it. I explained it all to the insurance company. It was all fixed perfectly, and I didn't pay a thing

You pay the bastards enough each year, the least they can do is solve the problem for you.

Heh.. reminds me of the time when a P plater ran up my rear end when I was stopped at a red. He had the nerve to yell at me for "not moving when I saw him coming". : He wanted to shove 500 dollars in my pocket for me to not report it to my insurance.
I reported it to my insurance and the repair for a total repaint of the bumper was 800 bucks, Take it up with the insurance I say. You pay them every year and very rarely use their services. Its not your fault so only good can come of it.

Make sure you have all her detail's 1st, and then contact your insurance and let them chase it up, don't let her get away with it, she just doesn't want to pay her basic access or loose her no claim, or she's had a few claim's etc allready, and this way you can choose your repairer if you have that in your policy.

Speaking of stone chips, how much do you think it would cost (on average) to get your hood and front bumper re-sprayed?
