It is stuffed .. It's a rust bucket... look around the front and rear windscreen openings, on the roof above the rear C section, near the A pillar, then the drivers door.

As much as it appears as though it may have destroyed part of a coupe, the concept is interesting.
I reckon with a fair bit more thought and lots of trial and error, it may just work.

I'm a firm believer in marrying old panels to new floor pans and firewalls so the new running gear fits easily.

I'll probably be drawn & quartered for saying this, but...

I think the X-coupe lines do not suit the B-series, the AU would've been a better candidate in terms of what is trying to be done here.

looks better than a lot of attempts to turn BA/BFs into coupes

they need to do something about the front and rear bumpers being lower than the sills though

as far as "waste of a coupe" goes it's no different to all the mad max replicas out there

at least this guy has some imagination

SEDAN TO COUPE CONVERSION?
I've visited a few Ford Forums overseas most specially in U.S. and there are few restoration companies that
converts Ford Mustang Coupe into a Fastback by just chopping the Coupe's roof and replaced it with a Fastback
from a donor car. I've learned that it is allowed in the U.S. but you can only register the converted car ( correct me if I'm wrong )
as a Ford Mustang Coupe and not to a Ford Mustang Fastback.

Back here at home, is it allowed or legal to do the same thing, I mean converting for example, a Falcon or Fairmont XA Sedan
into an XA Coupe with some few modifications? Can it be registered as well? I've approached one automotive engineer thru email
about this matter before starting my project but he didn't say "yes" or "no" instead he told me that it gonna be a long
consultation and it should be done personally in his office for A$ 90 plus GST per hour.
Since I am a newbie on this forum, I need some advice from you guys before spending my "hard earned money."

Last night, I came across this "project car" on Ebay , is says an "XA coupe BF GT FPV Cobra project". http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/XA-coupe-...item2a318827df No comment about this project
Just wondering how come its on auction now.

Looking forward hearing from you guys,
Thanks,

Two door conversions and roof replacements are perfectly legal in most states...but if your are prepared to sit down with a engineer to discuss it.

Hard to say what it would ultimately look like in that state but it does have potential. Would like to see the finished body painted .
yes I know these cars are getting rare and some purists will cringe but most of what is there is not out of character with the tough image of a falcon 2 door

I actually know this guy and he is the owner of a well respected Panel & Paint shop. He has restored some very nice XA XB XC coupes over the years. Two of which I currently own. He did a full Mad max replica which can be seen at quite a few car shows. So I say good on him for trying to save what was a badly damaged coupe. If he does keep the car and finish it I'm sure it will feature in few Ford magazines.
Good on him, I like it......

Pottery Beige beat me to it....

But imagine what everyone was thinking when they were building the Mad Max Interceptor?? Think of that as a bare shell with mismatched panels and bits and pieces all over it... With the Arcadipane nosecone and all...

If that car had never been in the movie and was a backyard job - do you think anyone would have liked it??

Sure it's no show winner in the form that it's in... hence the 'unfinished project' and reason for selling....

But a Boss V8, 6spd box, and all the good bits from a BF R-Spec in it...
Paint it white with blue stripes - it just might work?

I'm not 100% sold on the lines... Not sure they are aesthetically suited - with the hardtop being so curvy and the BF with some sharper edges than normal...

But I'll make 2 statements that I am 100% on...
1) It will end up in a magazine when it is finished...
2) It will look better than the AU custom Coupe/Ute/Thing with the Chrysler 300c grille...

So that's what you do when your coupes rust out, replace with plastic parts. No more rust ******* genius. Good on him for having a go but he should finish what he started, as only he knows what his vision was.

Thanks Nikked...You shed some light to my questions. Yup, I'm prepared to discuss an XA Coupe conversion/ roof replacement with an automotive engineer as long as its allowed/ legal.

That's what i was thinking. you have to have balls of steel to cut up a coupe and tackle such a big project (it's just a pity he's not going to see it through).

i hope someone buys it instead of the lot ending up at some recycling center.

It was in a very bad way rust wise.
I saw that coupe after it was sandblasted and told the owner to sell it as he could not afford to repair it. Told him to put it on ebay. It WAS ROTTEN everywhere. Original colour Wild Violet.
This guy bought it and saved it in my opinion. Other wise the shell would have been sent to sims for recycling. Nobody wanted it.

Yes he did save it.

It was on ebay for sale for a few weeks and all you people crying what a waste of a coupe never bought it..... probably because it was to far gone for you.

Well here is your chance to snap it up and save it.
You can rebuild it back to factory standard if you like.
He has cut most of the rust out now so a few patch panels will get it looking good again

No you wont be drawn and quartered for having an opinion.(well at least not by me)
He used that BF model because he did not like the 4 door Cobras that Ford produced.
He wanted to build a BF 2 door cobra.

Good on him for having a go!!

Well good luck with it all. Two dead cars morphed into a new lease of life. The guy obviously has some talent and it should look good in Cobra spec. But plz promise me this: If it does end up looking awesome/popular, try and get the rights to a kit-car or woteva it is. That way people going through a mid life crisis ( couldnt bang the secretary) wont have to settle on destroying half decent coupes that barely exist as it is.

No, it's just plain wrong. Just because somebody had an idea to marry two completely opposite things doesn't make it right.

It's along the same lines broccoli flavoured ice cream or 18 year old chivas regal with diet coke; or a vajazzle on Dame Judi Dench........ Woff.
