i think something weve missed here is the throttle response. They have the best outof any car in aus i think.
Also my mate has a vrx magna and vrx lancer and the lancer eats it...hes ИИИИed about it.His little brother has an old maxima which beats the magna to I think hes going to reregister his Charger hahaha |

Again, I am not stirring to pot, BUT if Mitsubishi built the Magna as a RWD would you buy one over a Ford if they were faster????
Just curious on your thoughts..... For me, I do like the Magna as a family car, but on the performance side of things, it will not do. Hell, it has taken $$$$ to get my BA xr8 up tho were I am near happy with... |

I personally don't like the look of the front clip on the latest model magna. I really like the previous model and still say it was the best looking of the big three on the road at the time. |

i didnt realise think they were as quick as what you guys have all pointed out, ive beaten a 98-00 model magna with my auto carb 4.1 xf s not to long ago. i was coming home at night from roller blading and i had a couple of friends in the car that i was taking home then at the lights a group of guys and girls in a magna pulled up beside us i remember laughing with my frends cause the only option that ИИИИbox didnt come with was street cred, then they were all hangin out the windows waving and carrying on so(i didnt realise they were yelling anti ford comments and giving the finger and was told later on) so i though ill shut them up and gas it abit to the limit and as i thought at the time would happen i was quicker to the limit (70km) then at the next set of lights(the last cause we were on gympie road which turns into the bruce highway) they did the loser driveby this time i saw the fingers and heard all the lovely anti ford propaganda so i though morons and gunned it to the limit(80km) caught them in no dramas and then the limit went to 100 so i we just went right past them and then we eventually turned off so after that i just honestly didnt think they were very fast btw mods i know this is somewhat of a street race story although the limit wasnt breached please remove if need be
**EDIT: when i say beside i mean a lane away, we were the only 2 really there at the time**

Maybe Magna's carry the stigma of being sooo slow because most of the people who drive them have zero interest in cars and have no clue how to get a car movin!

Driving a TL Magna at work surprised me, they actually go pretty hard! The engine is nice and responsive and I reckon with a decent exhaust system it would sound good too.

Guys...Always when theres a drag...its quite likely that the better driver of the two will win the race this is due to the carsbeing race r both manual...and you must be able to have perfect shiftpoints to win a race...with a better driver in a slower car which is unlikely to win...you can bust a car that might be a 1 sec quicker than your car... lets say if u drag off the lights the person witgh the better reaction time can possible gain a car length in the first sec....then gain more by changing gears quicker and shifting gears at the right times... cheers...

i'll back the magna 100%. my mate has three (whole family). two autos and one manual, 98 3.0L's. my brother in a stock au 6 auto blitzed the both autos countless times, but then the manual one came along and lets just say its taken my brother exhuast, extractors(15.6) and now with lsd and 3.7's. the au gets it off the line then the magna comes back and levels my brother. and the magna has wheels + suspension. i rekon the magna is good for a 15.2-3 stock. not bad for 140kw.

There is only two ralliart 4wd magnas and they were built to run in the australian rally championship two years ago but the rest of the ralliart magnas are front wheel drive and they look tough quick too i was going to get one if i couldnt find a ba. I dont think your car has it in it have you heard the magnas rev and they got the speed to match the noise

Sorry buddy, the Magna would win hands down. Mate of mine has a 5speed Magna wagon, it that thing hauls butt for what it is. I have driven manual EA's too, you have no chance.

My opinion is that you ea will still be kiking about the streets when that magna is in a waiting line for a crusher misatbichys are renound for the lack of longterm qulity if you wait 10 years till its a smoke cloud on wheels youll get the last laugh

I agree the Magna 3.5L v6 has a very crisp throttle response even in auto form. With a manual I would say they are even better provided you can get power to the ground.

dont worrie.. the amount of oil those 3.5's ИИИИ out when there breathers block up (which all mitsu v6's do ) will ensure the front tyres wont get any grip.... so u might have a chance..... NAR the magna will defently smoke u good unless u get some decent gears into ya car

two of my mates have magnas. one has a manual 3L and the other an auto 3.5L. when all cars were stock i could take em both off the line then the manual 3L would start to pull on me about 80+!! (now we've started modding i can take em both, more potential in the 4L!!). the manual 3.5L's are pretty quick especially when they are manual.
you'll cain the integra but go down to the magna.

^^^ Hahaha i remember you guys trying to race each other one night before a beastclub cruise.
There was a white ed and i think green and goldy type magna's going along ferntreegully rd towards springvale rd, i think it was at watsons rd lights you tried to race each other. I was in the dark blue XR6 and mate had the red alfa romeo, we had a good chuckle watching you guys all try to get ahead of each other. |

As much as I don't like to admit it, along with the 2 Fords I have a 2001 TJ Magna Sports. It's got the 163kW 3.5L V6 and a 5 speed auto with the sequential shifter. 1st is extra low so it gets off the line very fast. I think it would beat the average E-series Falcon.

There are a few guys in perth running low 15s with 5spds and just exhaust. One guy ran a 14.9 or a 14.8 with manual exhuast and cai there is also a guy running 14.6 with manual exhaust cai and chip. Auto 14 second magna with just exhaust is pretty hard :P
