While I can see that Top Gear has better entertainment, comical value than 5th Gear, the latter is a better show in my opinion. Jeremy gets on my nerves, not only because he is an idiot, but because a lot of people take his words as gospel. Tiff gives better car reviews and can drive far better than anyone on Top Gear can. I still enjoy watching TG, but 5th Gear is my choice. |

Even if Top Gear did drive a BF Typhoon, by the time it aired in Australia the Orion would be out already.

Great ocean road is pretty, but it isn't that great a 'drivers' road imo.

yep, great ocean road is very pretty but it is about the most frustrating road in the world to drive down. I hate it. IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE AT TWENTY UNDER THE LIMIT, MOVE INTO THE BYPASS TO LET OTHER PEOPLE THROUGH. I've taken to over taking people in those little bypass that slower drivers are supposed to pull into because they'll be cruising along at 20 or 30 under the limit, sometimes slower and pass 3 or 4 of them.

Mid week is great for the GOR .. brings back memories
I'd love to see TG here, the best ford for him to drive IMO will be the typhoon, it's a standout. |

I have to get behind a Typhoon. You guys love them to pieces!
Is a Typhoon a F6? Sorry for the quick hi-jack. I can't stand Turbos but, I'll drive it (at least test) if it's Ford.

Typhoon (silhoette), F6(ego), Fairmont Ghia(silk) and Territory Turbo Ghia(seduce) in convoy on a loop through Melbourne to Ballarat and then down to Port Fairy & Warrnambool, Port Campbell - Great Ocean Road to Torquay, Geelong & Queenscliff.
Ferry to Sorrento around Sandown and then upto the Yarra Valley and the High country to Bright, Falls Creek, Mount Buller, Millawa. These conditions suit the Fords perfectly and show off both the country and the cars to perfection. They offer the best scenery and driving roads around, even after the bushfires. |

Everyone is SO entitled to their likes and dislikes on TV and you are most welcome to it too. Just didnt understand your reasoning behind it. It is an entertaining show that even my MRS sits and watches! Dont care if Jeremy and the others has no racing, driving whatever experience...Take it for what it is... Its a chuckle | [/url] |

How is that helpful? Those are opinions not drivers input my friend. There is a huge difference, it is good value for entertainment but a true motoring show it is not. Tiff is awesome and I would take his opinion very seriously and of course a racing background means something when reviewing a car, if not you or I could run a show, think about it mate. He has vast experience behind all kinds of cars, test driver and Le-Mans racer. "****" Factor BS"? For some enthusiasts it's not a **** factor (shows your attitude) it's a car show, not a comedy fest. Tiff's background 100% helps him, instead of him calling the car, simply: "crap" he'll give a explanation into why he thinks this and what improvements could be made to mechnicals etc. All I'm saying is there are "fun, hold hands family programs" and others that get to the point and give the viewer a no BS look at the cars, tech, driving & options. I watch both but would never listen to what "King Jeremy" has to say in terms of cars. ;)

If you can't stand JC, then don't watch the show. Simple.
I can't understand why people feel this incessant need to come on here and tell everyone how much they hate everything. We don't care!

Its a just a car show, its up to individuals to choose what they agree with or dont agree with. as if anything on TV will ever be tailor made for one person.
Jeremy says all kinds of crap, but your missing the point that he is more comedian than reviewer. As if he himself truly believes everything he says.

For what its worth I'll back up one of the previous comments regarding the Great Ocean Road. It may have been a good driving road in years gone by, but not now. Its now dominated by a conga line of Toyota Camrys towing Jayco caravans at 30kph. Nobody gives a stuff and thus won't move over for faster cars. Its infuriating.
The only time you could give the Great Ocean Rd a go is at 2am one night, but the death knell was when they speed limited the whole damned thing to 80kph (down from 100kph). Nup, its a boring tourist road now. Better off doing one of the stretches in the Great Alpine Rd....or close off Mt Buller Rd like they do for the annual hillclimb : As for Jeremy Clarkson & Top Gear, I understand some of the comments about him being arrogant, and the show being a bit flippant etc. Yes, it would also be good to have a bit more detailed analysis by a racing driver. However, as I'll never, ever, be able to throw an Aston Martin around a track like The Stig, then a pure race driver analysis is not really that relevent for me. I like the way that Jeremy comments on the more subjective things, like how the car sounds, and its interior fitments, and the whole "feel" of the car. He's often favoured a slower car over a technically faster one, simply because to drive it, it has more feel and 'soul'. To me, that's just as relevent, if not more relevant, than how fast it goes around a corner up on 2 wheels against the stopwatch. For me, Top Gear is a pretty good show, with a reasonable blend of entertainment and analysis. Keep it going!!!!!! Brent. |

Mate, where did you hear that from? You think everybody that watches it takes his word like the 'good book'. Im not starting anything, im merely stating that your logic doesnt make sense. Unless you actually went around to the millions of people that watch Top Gear and asked each individual if they take everything seriously about the things Jeremy says, you dont have a case. : |

"Figure of speech" mate. ;) Example: "There were millions of us at the cricket last night" And it really pays to read my friend, where did I say millions!?!?!? :togo: I said (and I quote) - "I watched it, just didn't understand how so many of you guys take his word like the good book." Obviously meaning the guys on the forum from the post and in general life. Back To Topic I say..............

I've tried watching 5th Gear a number of times and I really wanted to like it, but I just fell asleep, it was so bland. Same with the crop of shows that have popped up on Ch10 from time to time. Jeremy loves Ferrari's and just bought a Lambo and got rid of his GT40 (which was plagued with problems but he still loves). They're Jaguar sympathisers to the extreme but they'll call a spade a spade most of the time. |

Yeah true, I'm over that discussion....each his own yadda yadda yadda. I would never buy a car based on someones review - ever.
He also had a Mercedes of some type didn't he? The fastest automatic car in the world (well, at the time).
