The "Force 8" and its reasons are made clear in our todays local paper.
Not a performance model we were hoping for but supposedly an up market model to get the cashed up baby bormers back into a Ford. FPV spokesmans quote " lots of baby boomers still love to drive a fast car but don't feel the striped and big wings sit well in the corporate car park. Not at their age anyway. Many have been buying performance cars and stripping off the fruit. The Force is in response to that" The red leather seats look nice. $71,990 and its yours. Force 8 is quoted as the same 290kw and full details will be tomorrows motoring section of the paper. |

I would have loved to seen that as the Force and not a GT/F6 with luxury interior. |

These would have to be the most underwelming cars Ford has heaped together from their parts bin. Sure, they look nice and have all the goods, but the GT-P was already that car.
I don't understand why they make the same car, with higher price tag, and less visual presence. They would have been better off offering the GT and F6 with rear wing delete option, and interiror upgrade option, and putting those lovely chrome mirrors from the Fairlane on the GTP anyway for BFII. Why oh why would anyone choose one of these when there is an HSV Senator with Magna ride, Bose (gimmick I know!) and 307kw 6.0 V8 with REAL performance on offer! You'd have to have rocks in your head. These Forces would be nice as a competitor for the Calais V and SS V - which means a similar price tag, not a $70K one! : |

Wheels magazine has a small drive of the Force 6. They are hoping to sell 250 of them split 50/50 between 6 and 8. Its just an easy to make new model that costs as little development dollars as possible, while adding incremental sales to get them through to Orion. Better to spend money on that than an updated model that will be superseded in 18 months.

Good luck to them, most of them had probably considered an HSV Senator instead, at least now they are FPV sales, not HSV.

I reckon it's great news for FPV. A lot of blokes here seem to be canning the concept because its not what they want. What they are overlooking is the fact FPV are giving punters more choice about the appearance of what has been to date a very "spoilers and all" product. What FPV have now are "boxing glove" and "velvet glove" appearance packages. Most FPV employees are hard core Ford fans dealing with limited resources thanks to narrow minded beancounters who have forgotten the old adage of "you have to spend money to make money". To add 2 new models to the FPV lineup at this point in time late in the BA/BF lifecycle can only broaden FPV's appeal with the upcoming Orion Falcon. Like the Force 6 & 8 packages, sometimes subtlety is the best approach.

im with henry...it doesnt hurt to have another 2 new models to pick between, no matter how little the changes are....one could argue there is no point in a gtp but they were still bought. if fpv just made hoon cars for teenagers who cant afford them ( just to have them argue at school about) would be a wasted opertunity and would never remain the threat it is in the high performace segmant. anyone who thinks the force cars are over priced are not thinking right....of course the luxuary versions are going to cost more.

Looks nice. Just a bit "boring" looking, for a FPV. IMO

Yep the more models in a line up, the better. 70 orders is proof that these models were missing from the lineup. FPV is only 4 years old, itll take time for them to go full-on with what they do, be patient people.

While I do like the Force 6 and Force 8, I do think FPV should have based it on the Fairlane to make it different from the GT/GTP and Typhoon models.

Looks like being another "exclusive" Ford. The names remind me of the Leyland Force 7V (P76 2door), another "exclusive" car.

What was interesting to see was the average age of the punters at the BAII release nights, its getting up their, or is that just me? younger folk up north in the mines and all but I'd say most are over 45.......
The Force range may be an option here, for the more sedate croud, not my cup of tea, I want the lare boy racer style anyday please. If I wanted a BMW or Merc (and yes I have owned one) or Audi etc etc I'd buy one and drive round in comfort, get treated like a snob etc but I'd rather have something well better.... Its all personal preference but I still think limited market and where was the market research any ways? people asking for a turbo Fairmont at dealers....and their you have the force6 I also reckon that anyone who orders one with the red interior will see about $5000-$10000 less at trade in time too (same as the merc-glad mine wasnt red hey!) How many FPV dealers 70? mabey one for each, lol. |

What a Joke!!!!!
If FPV had released the price earlier we wouldn't have ordered one for our dealership. As most of the FPV / FORDS they have the same cheap plastic body kit, and poor build quality. 71,990 is just under the 300C SRT8 which is a much supperior car to ANY FPV. The SRT Jeep at over 2 tonnes is faster and corners just as well as the GT. The best looking BF2 car is the Fairmont Ghia, they look tougher than the XR if I ever bought a new Ford i would get one of them. |
