you will have to take the back lid off, cant see any other way to transport the dogs around.

Its on gas struts so is there a way you make a wire cage that opens the lid enough to let air through and locks down on either side so the lid doesnt move.......

if you are travelling from bris to melb, thats a long trip for dogs in the bcak of a ute. You would need to have some lining on the floor of the ute and some shade cover over the top, otherwise they will cook from the heat on the tray floor and get sunstroke and dehydrated. Not a really good idea to travel that far with them. It will difficult to keep them from being distressed IMO.

they have done the trip three times now but in my old ute which didnt have the cover. we used shade cloth to protect them from the sun and horse blankets on the ground.

lid off or on the front seat and floor.
If you put a cage in the back, then strap the hardtop down you are probably going to damage the paint.

yea take it off... Be careful as a few dogs have passed away under them due to heat exhaustion. I don't mean the owners doing it on purpose but the dog climbs up there for a ride or a lie down and the owner doesn't realise straight away, close the tailgate and by the time they figure it out it may be too late :(

Sarah C. I would trust Mrs B's opinion seeing as she is a vet nurse. But I would put the dogs in the car with me or fly them up here.
