Gday All,
Been reading most of the Focus threads over the past few weeks, and finally bought an 06 Focus LX on the weekend, and I can pick it up on Wed Arvo. There is a few bits and peices I want to do to it, 18s Exhaust Cold Air Intake Clear Tail lights The rims Im pretty much sorted with, and the exhaust, I will most likely head down to Carline to see what they have got. The two things Im not sure about - The cold air intake, are these avail for these, and if so, are they worth it? And clear tail-lights? Ive seen a couple of guys on Ebay for about $300, but would prefer to buy from a shop! Cant wait to finally get her, and to be able to post some pics! Anything else I should be looking at? Cheers Chris |

Yeah it blew me away. TBH, I wasnt expecting much from it, and was looking at Mazda 3's, and then jumped into a focus and was really impressed with the power.
Especially after my 01, 1.5 Mitsubishi Lancer, A bit more power is always welcome! |

Welcome to the boards!.
For exhaust mods, it's pretty hard to go past HiTech Mufflers in Darlinghurst Sydney. As far as I'm aware they sell components if you're not in NSW but if you are they do fantastic work. Worth the extra $$$ Wheels will be hard, but not impossible. The focus has a very unusual stud pattern (5X108 for the LS through to LV) but if you do a search of this forum there's been a few threads about what wheels are out there. Look forward to see what you do with the car.

Welcome to the forums.
I'm not sure about the quality of the lights on ebay, but then again, getting quality ones in from Europe might get a bit expensive. As for CAI's, there are plenty. Whatever you do, don't drop in an exposed pod filter (like I did), the focus engine bay gets HOT! (This is soon to be changed). I'd recommend an enclosed system, such as a BMC, Pipercross or Simota. What rims were you thinking of? |

The normal rear lights are about $100 so $300??
But I am guessing Ebay is going to be your best bet otherwise its going to be HEAPS more. |

I got my chrome clear tail lights from Sydeny Special Vehicles for just over $300 including delivery. Mine sit in pretty well compared to some of the black ones I've seen where there seems to be a gap of about 5mils on the sides.
They come with an extension lead for the brake lights as the globes are in a different postition to the stock ones. Sadly one of these cables has failed on me and they can't be purchased separatly so I've had to retunr back to the stock ones until i can repair/create a new one. But from what I have seen the aftermarkets tend to average around $300 - $350 for the pair.

I got the K&N kit (made specifically for the Focus) $200 from the UK inc. shipping. The other bands mentioned above need some custom work to install them (they are generic), and are a bit more expensive.

Hey ya welcome to the forums
For my CAI i got one of the 3A Racing filters from ebay new it was only like 40 delivered. I set mine up weird though i am using half the old air intake system to feed the pod cold air.. I'll have to take some pictures and explain what i mean but it works great for me. basically take the top of the old intake off and the old filter out and sit the new pod in that casing. |

Keep an eye out on eBay and the like for a set of zetec or LT headlights. Where yours are chrome the LT lights are blacked out and the look the buisness.
Wouldn't bother with aftermarket ones though, aside from the fact that all the sets I've seen are fugly they're usualy of dubious quality.

Well, I've found some rims - Im just not certain what size, 17's or 18's. Price difference in not much, only about $300, but I dont want to touch the suspension, so not sure if she will sit too high on 18's.
Does anyone know of anyone who has put 18's on and left the suspension standard? I say this as I had an 01 lancer, which I dropped with some King Springs, and although it stuck to the road like anything, it was just a horrible ride. |

Thought I'd revive an old thread - went for a cruise up to Bathurst on Sat with my mate who just picked up his new Mazda 3 - First time I've taken to Focus up there and if only the speed limit was MUCH higher!

Did you have a swap with your mate in the Maz?
Would have been an intersting comparro. Just out of interest, is the car stopped in all those shots? It sits very 'flat' for standard suspension otherwise!

Wow! she sits nice and flat. I'm keen on 17's for mine, and wont be lowering either for a while. When I get the readies to put tyres on the rims, I'll post a pic.
Looks like you had a great day.

Yup - always a good day around the mountain! Haha
Sometimes I think about lowering it, but so happy with how it rides and handles - when the shocks are screwed I might look at it then - but nothing yet

when i was on my L's i took my mothers focus to bathurst with my dad (to get the hours up) and it was the best of fun... shame could only go 60 though... the trick was trying to get around the whole track doing 60 including corners... but as a learner couldnt really pull it off haha.
im really wanting to take my little fiesta there, as its an awesome drive to the track and a great experience taking ur own car there... love ur focus by the way casabonka |
