I was going to scan the pic today but I forgot to take the mag into work! Who has seen the setch that a uni student did around the back of the magazine? It is very awesome. Looks nothing like an FG but it is what a modern day GTHO muscle car should look! I will continue dreaming!

I have the mag but yet to read it.
If that's the pic then no thanks. Enough with the retro styling, get some originality. The FG series Falcon can look tough enough with the right styling queues.

Nose looks XB to me, more than XY....
But it's a good start. I'd like to see more industrial design students having a go at a modern retro GTHO. Or even a Coupe. Lukeyson

the GTHO concept looks similar to something i knocked up at uni a couple of years agofor an assignment. that being said, i too borrowed some lines off some rehashed retro muscle cars :

Agree on xb comment. the roundness, colour and that scoop on bonnet make me think Mopar.
Needs a rear spoiler and bumper element to break it up. The squareness of the XY was makes it look cool. |

Why is it that Ford can put stuff on a bonnet and it looks good. Yet Holden do it and it puts me off their cars? I like it, BTW. lol

That concept is fugly, especially the front, the rear is ok, but looks too much like a mustang.

I think this sort of styling is exactly what Falcon is missing. FG while being an attractive design, doesn't have the WOW factor to pull swinging buyers into the dealerships for a test drive (it was just seen as a continuation of the B-Series).
As far as I'm concerned a great exterior design will increase sales more than technical advances like EcoBoost, or Diesel combined. Ford need to get out of their 'keeping the faithful' happy and start selling to those who have never considered their product previously. I've seen one of these bonnets in the flesh, they're a worthy upgrade. We just need Ford to steal the idea for the FG Series II FPVs.

Much like 'GTS' 'BOSS' 'GT500' etc, the acronym 'GTHO' stands for more then the its original use. The bare mention of its name gives images of a Ford wanting to be all, a winner, the top of the Falcon performance range. Ford/FPV will do no harm bringing back the fabled badge (Sure, a few will banter on about bathurst, how the V8 SC's are boring and how we need to go back to the 60's) , if FPV do indeed have a all-conquering blown V8 in its near future, it will more then deserve the nameplate. Not being a race car is irrelevant in this day, if it was, the likes of a GT will not be around now its self. Like wise Holden's GTS, Shelby's GT500, Boss, all names that were born out of need for race track domination in the 20Th century, now representing power and performance for the car owner, and what they choose to do with the car its self. The addition of purely the GT name to the line up has done wonders for Ford. The next step is the unleashing of a beast, something that brings pride, emotion and lore. After all, what can you call a High performance GT, without sounding tacky.
