I was running on empty so was forced to fuel up at the Caltex/Woolworths Servo on Nepean Hwy Seaford Victoria. DO NOT BUY FUEL HERE. My car is now running like a bag of crap, pinging like crazy even under light acceleration, and has no power.

Shame for the OP here. If I was stuck in the same situation I'd only just put enough in to get me to a BP. Jack

I called them and at least warned them. I got pretty much a textbook reply. "Get a report from your mechanic and bring it in if you'd like to pursue the incident." blah, blah, blah. Didn't sound like they are going to even check on it. So beware...

One way to check is pull the spark plugs out and see if there is any white stuff.
Last time in Melbourne when there was bad fuel, you could check the plugs of the car and tell if it was bad fuel. |

it does seem a bit coincidental that it was running fine before the fill up and now it`s pinging it`s guts out after the fill, i have come across this myself, i drove mine gently till the fuel level went down a bit then topped her up with premium from my local, problem solved.

Proof? All the service from my company is the same too unless you pay more for better service. So stuff it... I'll just run 91 in my car because it's from the same refinery... Nice thought that doesn't hold water any better than a strainer... Please explain to me why then my tuner tells me that Caltex fuel can ping in a tuned car? With proof, back to back. BP no problems. I have no doubt they come from the same refinery. It's in Spotswood just near the West Gate Bridge in Victoria. Also tell me why my tuner tells me to steer clear of Shell fuel if it's from a completely different refinery. Is that because they are similar but different? Jack

Lets face it considering the location and service station size i can almost garuantee they wouldnt sell as much 98 as the bp down the road or the shell across the road. I'd almost bet that the fuel stale..

Drain it out, put some fresh fuel in. Then have a look at the suspect fuel. It shouldn't have completely stuffed the car. |

had a few in though the workshop that have had suspect fuel, even had fuel sent out for lab tests ect at customers request! seems to be a problem that may be coming, running the car real low wouldn't have done you any favours either!
Good luck with getting it sorted, hope it goes the cheap path to een soted for you as the expensive path is extremely ugly! |

Got the same problem last year in my 3 Litre V6 triton. Gutless and missing etc up after running very low. New fuel filter and all good. Blamed the servo but in reality the crap at the bottom of the tank accumulates over the years. Corrugated roads stirred the stuff up and it blocked the filter.
