Hi Mates,
This topic might have been discussed so many times. But I searched the whole forum to find out if anyone have seen or done this and I don't think anyone has. I was on a particular dealership used car lot and I was testing 2 particular 2009 WS Zetec Fiesta. I plugged in my IPOD Classic 7th gen to the USB using only the Apple original cable and I can hear music and control the ipod using stereo controls (sound is 10x better than using AUX). Nothing is plugged in to the 3.5mm AUX. On the 2nd Fiesta Zetec (same year, trim etc). I plugged in my Ipod and could only control it thru stereo controls. I could not hear any sound (max volume just gives a hissing sound). A lot of people say you need a Y cable to plug the sound output to the 3.5mm jack. But I swear I wasn't drunk when I plugged my ipod using just the USB (w/o aux) to the first Zetec and could hear music. Could this be stereo firmware version differences? How can i see the firmware version on the WS Fiesta Zetec stereo? |

Well generally with aftermarket stereos you have to choose between stereo control and iPod control, which may explain why it worked in one car and not another.
As for the sound quality or Y-cable, I've got no idea.

hi simple6. both were stock factory stereos. i'm thinking it could be software version update or some settings. i still have to play around the car that i got because the other fiesta which does play purely via USB (no aux) sounds awesome compared to having an AUX analog signal.
