Default plasti dip paint coating experiment with an au LTD grille.

I thought there was too much chrome so i figured I would try some blackouts with plasti dip spray coating.I think the remaining chrome stands out more now and I can easily peel the coating off if I change my mind.
There are several colours and effects available now.
Go for it!

My attempt:

Yeah, I tossed up between all black or just leaving two bars in the middle or every 2nd bar, ( a lot of masking) I dont think you can get such a sharp masking edge with plasti dip.

Cheers.

That looks pretty cool got a closer picture? I reckon it would look sportier if you changed the chrome bonnet trim back to the factory one matching the paint.

Just need to find me an LTD Grill!

Got a night shot of those LED's? Could be a great alternative to driving lights.

Hi U.K.
Its a rubberised coating so it will never be a smooth as paint, you can get special clear coats, metalizers and gloss coats to improve the finish though.
Its good for the front of the car as stones should bounce off it and if it does get stone chipped you can peel it off and start again.

Will try and post close up pics.

Hi Bluterus,
I might try to dip the chrome bonnet trim completely black and see how it looks.

You could try to dip a fairlane grille too, or make a mesh grille insert for a fairlane grille.

I have attached a pic of the LED's in late afternoon sun when I was playing around with the grille (taped up every 2nd bar).

I bought them as Daytime running lights, wired to come on with engine running and off when headlights go on, disappointingly they are a little too violet in colour, but they were slim, easy to mount with double sided tape and very cheap from ebay.
