No problems at all with a Manual S3 XR8, the vehicle has done 55 thou so the shocks are still ok.
One thing I did at the last service was to have the diff refilled with the heaviest oil the Mechanic could find. Whilst I never have experienced axle tramp the heavier oil has made the diff less clunky, the manuals have bad manners at low speed and this has improved driveability. If you vehicle is a manual could be worth a try, if an auto not sure if this would make any difference. Cheers. |

Mine's a TE50 but yes they can be made to tramp a touch I find if you give it too much off the mark to get away cleanly but not enough to really get the wheels spinning it will do a little dance before taking off. I think it's more to do with learning to drive the car properly then trying to change the car.

fordau yes mine is manual aswell but i done 120k thinking might be shocks although seems ok on bounce test and no signs of oil leakage from shocks..although they could be gas dunno...even if i dont dump clutch still does it.. no bounce when sideways..would a progresive shock fix problem or should fit lower springs?

Mine tramps pretty bad but I've changed so much I wouldn't know where to start looking! lol
As bluedriver said, probably more a matter of learning how to drive the car accordingly then looking for things to change........

Check your top shock mounts. Could be stuffed and that could make your shocks null and void.

Axel tramp is a problem with AU IRS as TS 50 said rear shock mounts will make it worse, so will broken left engine mount bolts.
I have had my T3 since new & its always done it. Sometimes it can be very bad, other times dosen't do it at all. It seems to be effected by the way you drive, the road, the weather, but I wouldn't say the shocks are the cause.

My XR8 IRS is bad for it to check the top shock mount or ur shocks themselves. You should also check ur wheel bearing as well. I have replaced the shock monts but havn't had a chance to test it out properly yet but i'm sure thst i have fixed this problem

i also suffer from a bit of axle tramp mostly when its wet and spinning in a straight line not when sideways i think its to do with the tyres trying to get traction but dont quote me on that
