Cool Creaking back end...on the car that is

Hi all, my AU2 Ghia VCT is starting to make a creaking noise from the back end/boot area more frequently now, seemingly when cornering hard or basically changing direction or going up or downhill a little briskly.

I've heard "shock mounts" mentioned before on here, and yes, the car is IRS, so could this noise be them? Whats involved with fixing them?

If not, then any clues?

I though it may have been than flap located on the passenger side boot area behind the carpet that helps dispell air pressure when you shut the doors because it is a similar noise, but would this move around on the go?

Your thoughts would be appreciated because my cars going in to my garage soon for something else, so I may get it looked at then.

Cheers.

turning corners, any surface that isnt smooth etc, it creaks. has gotten worse over the last week or so.
i suspected shock bushes too but i think it may be a little more than that.

id guess its your upper mount..
pull rear seats forward.. then remove the trim panel that covers the shock towers..

get friend to push car up and down while you look at it..

Thanks guys, will check this weekend.

If it doesn't get any worse then i'll probably just learn to ignore it!

ok got the creaking fixed today.
it seems that the rear top shock mountings were 'dry' (according to ford). they lubed it all up and the creaking is gone.
i would more likely say that the rubber bushes were worn out and instead of replacing them they used some grease instead.
see if yours is the same.
i expect the problem to come back after winter when there is no warranty left.

That'll be right!

Didn't get round to checking the car at the weekend, but have booked in to my reliable usual garage for pads next week, and will get them to have a look then.

Thanks!

let me know what your mechanic says.
although grease has solved the issue with mine, i dont believe it was the correct fix.
since when did you apply grease to the top shock mounts?
isnt that what a rubber bush is for?

well guess what came back today. not even 50km after i had picked the car up the creaking and squeaking is bad.
less than impressed to say the least.
dropped in to see them about it and basically got shrugged off.
"book it in for any time after next tuesday" and then started rambling about the other work they had to do to the car as well.
ill be putting my foot down this time, new rubbers and new parts that need replacing. lube does not solve the problem if lube isnt even sposed to be on that part in the first place.
