Orange, if you are going to put stripes on, might as well make it stand out, and orange looks good on black

What type of stripes are you thinking about? Same as the ones on the GT, or something a little different?

If you must put sticky things on your car, then on black I would definitely go for the gold. Something about a gold and black combo that looks classy

Gold looks real classy and stands out but not as much as orange would. Some one a few posts up said black. Hey why not be different. there is a Black GTP with silver stripes, simmons and black bonnet stripes on these forums and it looks mean. The strips are still there and would stand out in the light but its not a mod to say loook i want my XR to look like a GT haha

Not an option. Some dealers did it though.
My GT-P is stripe free (has bonnet decals though).

Flat black looks good but can often look like decals were there and they've faded etc. I'd look into getting some custom dark grey decals made. White stands out far too much, silver looks good but for a more stealthy look a dark grey is spot on IMO.

Interseting thread. I have spent all day today washing, claying, and waxing my black XR8. I was looking at it having a Jimmy Boags and thinking that with the black paint, black tint, black tyres, it needed someting to break up the "blackness". I thought that the siver "BOSS260" bonnet bulge stickers might do the trick. At least they are the same colour as the wheels.
Its your car Dude, do as you please!!!

i`d go for gold :
i was looking at a black BF GTP parked in the street the other day. it looked the goods. had black paint, black tint and gold stripes. very classy. i`d hate to be keeping it clean but it was probably the best looking GT i`v seen. :eclipsee_
