we are just pullin a head of a au 3 and we are jest settin the timing and the top timing mark dont ling up with the bottom is this right plz help asap

firstly did the chain slip/jump a tooth on the sprockets,Im not sure the ratio from crank to cam on these but if the sprocket are different sizes turn the engine a few times by hand in the correct direction until they line up if not the chain may have jumped a tooth. and you may be bending valves as you turn it over so be carefull
Not a huge drama .Just set it up when you put it back togeather no 1 pistion @ tdc and set the head/cam up to compresion stroke tdc so both valves closed on no 1 cyl. if it doesnt make sense get a service/owners manual as they usually explain it in there fairly well |
