Default BTR's... anyone wanna know?

Just checking to see if anyone wants to see the inside of a BTR, ie the clutch packs, valve body, solenoids, gears etc. I will shortly be pulling my gearbox apart to correctly copy the electronic side of things. If enough people say they want to know, I will pull it down as much as I can and take pictures of everything on the way. I will do my best to explain how it works too...

yeah but with mine you get to see what a worn overrun clutch and/or shagged one way bearing look like. I had no engine braking.

note that I will be doing this nice and dodgy like, as I have no real concern for this transmission. I won't break parts on purpose, but by the same token I don't care that much if I lose some valve body bits...

Man get prepared to get soaked in that stinky *** funky to touch trans oil. I absolutely hate that stuff with a passion.

I'd be interested to see the internal workings of a manual box, If i could figure out how to rebuild them I would probably save some money.

any updates??

i think my overrun clutch is gone beacause as soon as i back off the throttle the revs drop down to idle speed even if im going fast.....and yes my gearbox is starting to slip occasionally...

but why would the overrun clutch wear the rest of the box out?

The over-run clutch can wear out when 2 of the clutches lock on at the same time (I forget which 2 exactly, I don't have my BTR manual here), which burns the over-run clutch out, then burns the clutchpacks out, so you're left with 1st and 3rd usually.

hmm well I had all four gears when its cold, no engine braking (bar 4th), and 1st and 4th when its hot. That led me to believe that I have a broken S2 solenoid, and no overrun clutch. (it did do the engine braking thing once, after I didnt drive the car for a fortnight, no explanation why it worked then...)

I'll be waiting until later to pull down my BTR, I have more importanat things to do with my car at the moment (like the head gasket)
