Default Just got a price on the e-series capa tuner

I just rang KPM auto here in adelaide and got a price on the capa tuner. It was $1498 with tune which i think is a little steep imo, seeing as capa sell them for $700 thats an $800 tune!! and on a relativly stock motor like mine (cam, zorst) it just doesnt seem worth it. There is another place on the capa site that do them here in S.A. maybe they will be cheaper. I was so looking forward to this chip now it looks like my money will go eleswhere.

I dont see the point in an e series unless you have some major mods.

People are so used to XR6T's (B series in general I guess) changing so much that they expect it from there e series. I dont see how its going to make that much difference.

I just cant understand how "tuning"can be so much even at $100 an hour labour thats a full eight hour day of work, surly there cant that much involved. Especially after a little r&d on a test mule.

Good tuning is worth every cent. If they are good then $800 might be worth it. Probably not on a stocker with a cam and exhaust though.

Oh yeah I understand that. It just sucks that only a select few get the software and then can charge whatever they want to use it.

Oh well thats life i guess.

At this point it'll take just as much effort to tune a car if it's a stocker with cam and exhaust, a turbo pumping 5psi into the sump, an N/A donk running a cam with .700 lift or a turbo pumping 25 psi into the engine.

Maybe in a few months when there's some base maps around, but even then I doubt it.

Im sure they will have some generic maps in the near future but wheather they pass the savings on time into savings of bucks onto us is the question.
