Wouldnt it be intresting if the 4.0 lost an exhaust valve? and was replaced by a direct injector?

A lot of stuff I've read in the ORION thread etc. is close to the truth and way way off the mark, and a lot of wishful thinking. Fair enough.......but just how confident are you that the orion engine will be a huge leap forward compared to what holden have now or their next engine for the VE+. I think Ford australias real concern is improving quality. You guys took a hiding with the BA series, the BF's an improvement but for me to buy another ford australia manufactured product there would need to be a huge improvement in quality.

I don't think you need to lose a valve for direct injection.

Direct injection is certainly going to happen on the six eventually, just a question of when and what models.

I hope they go for lighter internals alloy pistons, light weight rods, lower friction materials etc. Save weight, improve engine power and performance, improve economy.

Don't worry about this new engine business fellas. Ford are sticking with the current engine line up with very minor power upgrades. 290-300, 260-270, 245-250ish, 230-240 and the six will get 200kw to compete with the Aurion. There's no new engine.
Are you serious?

I think he means its not enough to beat the Holden, 200 is plenty of power but to outsell the VE, a simple upgrade of power is "not enough"

That's enough for a samily sedan. XR6 should get 210kw and LSD standard. XR8 should get the BOSS 290 and FPV's should get a 320kw special BOSS with carillo rods. That's what I want my freind!

yeh 200kw is alot.... but considering Orion will weigh more than the BF means that performance wise, it probably wont be faster. Oh, and also the fact that Cadillac (i think) has a DI 3.6 V6 coming out soon with 300hp (about 225kw) shows that holden will not be standing still.

I'm talking the Boss more-so, need cubes IMO, 351 Boss 5.8 to smash the VE will do me nicely.

I have seen some orion parts too, but same as you, I ain't saying nothing for the same reasons

Ok then so i say half a shipping container of whiskey? lol

Ah why worry people just relax and hit the wacky weed and fly high in a bubble till 08 when Orion comes out then we will detox and celebrate... celebrate before detox so we don't get all depressed and stuff lol nah i don't suport the use of drugs and seriously we can chatter away as much as we want but either way we will be disapointed in some regards (prob engine and perf) and be surprised in other areas end of the day lets just pray it is a bigger success that the BA and shits over holden

The BF engine is already far more technally advanced than the american engine in the VE, try driving a commodore without water......as far as build quality, people are people, cars are built by humans and i'm hearing a lot of bad reports about both vehicles.

How fast do people want a stock family car to go! The BA-BF already run fairly quick times for big four-door family sedans. I just hope they're more refined, economic, safer, and technologically advanced.
