I think my heater core has had it :( The car's been ****ing coolant from a factory drain hole on the firewall since the engine went back in, now the water is pouring and when I go up hills the water comes out from the passenger side footwell!!!
It also started steaming from the demister vents hardcore lol, I thought it was on fire for sec, then it all started pouring out of the dash so much that I had to pull out the stereo and move the microfueller that's mounted there. From the outside it would've looked like someone was having sex in the car lol. So anyways, it's my heater core right? I've never seen anything like it so I wouldn't know. How much is just the core new? Is it hard to replace? Am I better off changing the heater box? Cheers guys, Sundeep |

Ah yeah, I'd say your heater core is stuffed. If your windows are fogging up even with the demister on, then there is fluid in the heater box.
A new heater core from Ford is worth around $100, and you've got to pull the heater box out to change it. It's not really worth stuffing around with a 2nd hand core, new one isn't that expensive, and it is a pain to change, so better off doing it once only. I'd sell you the c/c conversion stuff back, but it's already in my car. It's a good excuse also to vacuum out the heater box and ditch all the leaves that have accumulated. In the meantime, it's easy enough to bypass the heater core, presumably you are still running the cfi heater pipe at the rear? Just unhook the hose with the heater tap on it and put it on the end of that pipe. Mine was like that for 4 months. |

So it a heater box out job? I'll save it for when the manifold comes out again and I'll pull the dash out at the same time. It'll take like 10 minutes that way lol.
I hope it's all simple :S Sundeep |

A mate at work has the exact same problem as you Sunny, he wants me to help him fix it. 8-) Let us know how you go, and whether it's easy or not.

Won't be easy so I'm going to bypass it like Steve reckons.
I drove for 3 minutes today, and the heater box automatically set the climate in the car to "tropical humidity + 10% vision on the windscreen". Makes driving fun, stopped and filled coolant twice in 7km. I need a daily. Sundeep |
