Is there such a creature? A car intended only for the drags as a six cylinder na ? If so what times does it run?

Full on means no compromise. That means no interior, drag suspension, insane (read undrivable) engine setup, no A/C, no dash, no nothing that isnt needed needed to get it 1/4 of a mile in a straight line.

Mine is nothing like that, nor will it ever be.

Gee you know how to take the fun out of it. Casper....

Down here there was a car that came over from Portland that was as close as a full drag car as I have seen .
EA with a BBM and hot as motor ... was running a vacuum pump or something I remember him saying as he had no brakes had a dash and the front seats . no rear seats and a roll cage it looked like he was still doing work to it.
I was told by his mate that it is his start into racing .. I asked him how old he was and he said .. "17. thats why I'm here I towed it over for him"

there is another meet down here in November .. if he is there I will get some pics.

Well I was thinking that my next project will be a toy to play with .I am thinking about a 300ci ford six cylinder engine for starters. These things are know to be capable of 600 horsepower and outrun the v8 5.0 due to its much inherent fatter torque curve.Just thinking about it at the moment..

Closest thing I think is the JMM EA drag car which runs low 12's for memory.

EB.. and it only runs low 12's on a diet of laughing gas otherwise its low 13's. But yes, its basically a dedicated drag car (regardless of how much JMM argue that it isn't)

In a ford magazine that shows the red EB, JMM state that it is a drag car and that when building a car it should be one or the other to achieve the best performance for whatever you choose to do. i.e. it had its front swaybar removed and front runners.

yep, it is a pure drag car. Yet on this very site they argued black and blue it was still a road legal daily driver.

Hamo's old car, would probably be the closest to it. Still used it for daily driving for a little while there though.

The 300 ci six is a truck motor and not intended for cars,I know of a guy in wa that was seling a drag xh ute that ran a worked six and nos that ran a 11.7 or thereabouts in the quokka[similar to trading post] for about ten grand. Now that would be a good buy, this was a while ago though.

The 300 cube 6 was a tall-deck version of the pre x-flow 250, for F-truck fitment... I've had a good look at one, seems everything would fit in an X-series engine bay, and a 2v head would probably fit as well.

Dunno about the fatter torque curve, Stav... These things have a stroke of about 11 feet, only rev to 4200rpm, no aftermarket support, and I reckon that even if you got 1000nm out of it, you'd have trouble catching a 7000rpm 5.0!

Not according to this article.Look at the last paragraph.7000 rpm is achieveable as well as 600 hp

Id believ it. Ive seen the stuff they do to the 250, and it aint pretty. They will make something powerful and fast no matter what it is.

and the first 6 running a power adder will still smoke you.. If you want a drag car imho the idea is to go as fast a possible vs dollars spent. Stav mate, you don't build engines so spending 'x' amount of dollars to showcase your busines of screwing together a killer 6 potter is not 'advertising' anything and the reality is you have just another car that might run an 11 second 1/4 mile..

I'm all for a killer AU 'street' version for a drag car ie: no tubs, full cage, bare bones and all factory panels would look and be cool to have parked in the garage .. I couldn't care if it was a boosted 6 or v8, it'd be just as cool either way

How much Nos would it be running ???
isnt the jmm car running a 3sp auto and 9inch .
I suppose it would have run that time with slicks as well ??

think about it it's still about 5.0L if you have enough cash and knowledge why not? might not be reliable long term but if your only doing 1/4s in to might be realistic you've seent the oz lotto truck thats close to what you'd need butas i said might be doable (is that a word )
