Default buy now, or buy later

Hey, what do you guys reckon.
Would you buy a BFII XR6T/Tornado Ute brand new now, OR Wait till the Orion is released and hope that the Orion 6T's are Priced around the same figure and buy a new car then, or try and pick up a brand new BFII Tornado then?

Options:

1. Buy BF MkII now which is cheap and has been well sorted by now
2. Wait for Orion which means no new car before mid 2008
3. Wait for Huntsman (Orion MkII) which means no new car before mid 2010.

The question is how long do you do want to wait?

If it had to be absolutley new I would wait - as the resale on the BFII will get hammered come Orion.

But if it was my money I would never buy new again (unless I was planning on keeping the car over 5 years), you lose to much - I always now get something about 2-3 years old with low kays.

Another option, wait for the runout models. GT 40th Anniversary, the Cobra (probably)coming... Im sure there will be other limited editions.

Aftr 4 years of recors new car sales, used car values are lower than ever. Falcoons and derivatives of (F'mont, XR, etc) are effected more than other brands.

If you don't wait you'll loose when you drive it off the lot and then take another big hit when Orion get released...

Wait to Orion get released and/or end of Financial year sales next year and then at least you'll get a decent discount up front to lessen the hit you will take....you will at least get some value!

I don't know how other people do it, but when i buy a car from brand new (or close to as i don't see the point in buying brand new, but thankyou to those who wear all of the new car costs for the rest of us) i plan on keeping it for a long time (5 years +). So for me, resale value isn't a big thing as by the time i go to sell it, i have paid it off anyway and any money i get down the track is just help to get another one. So personally i would get one now and then stick with it for quite a few years. As someone already said, come BF11 most of the bugs are ironed out/well established and it is a fantastic buy for someone young like me (24). Trend and model following can be a very expensive ordeal...

I'd wait. No point paying top dollar for a car that's already outdated. Either buy a cheap one from the runout sale or buy an Orion.

Mate it's up to you. Do you want a BF or not?
Done side is the BF will drop heap once the new car is available.
Orion will be more then than what the BF is now.
BF will be cheaper new then apposed to now.

If you want the BF wait till the Runout sales(when the Orion is introduced), you are more likely to pick up a bargain, as dealers will become desperate to clear their stocks for the new model...

BFII Tornados are cheap now, 49 kay for a brand newy...

I bought my BFII earlier this year, I could have waited but how longs a piece of string... I'll probarly buy an orion if im impressed by it, but it wont be until they are 12 - 18 months in production, by then my car will be three years old and ill have some equity in it.

I'd wait for the Orion II because it will look better than the series I no doubt. But I don't like waiting for things and if your like me you would buy something and then regret it later.

I would either buy a BFII now or if you are happy to wait buy one when the Orion is released and get one at a good price.

At the start of 2006 I wanted to buy a ute. The BF was the current model and the dealer said I could have a new 2005 BA MKII XR6 ute at a heavily discounted price, just to move the old BAs out to make room for the BFs.

It all depends on what you want and how long you will keep the car. Do you want the newest on the block or are you happy to have the last model at a discounted price?

As long as Ford doesnt do any stupid price cutting at the end of the BF resale values are not affected by a new model.

You could be dead by the time the Orion II comes out.

Buy something now and enjoy life.

I'll be waiting for the "Huntsman" OrionII all issues will be ironed out and the FPV's will get somethings upgraded and some options will come standard.
Plus I'm enjoying my current Phoon too much!

I was pondering the same question today.. to and fro until I saw a VE commie beside me, Black, mean and fresh, now compare that to the VZ and the previous model really looked old hat.. Going by all the spy shots of the Orion your 'new' BF will look out of date in 12 months..

well, I think everyone that is looking at a new car like me are in the same boat, do you chance it and wait till the Orion comes out, which hopefully will poo all over the BF range.
OR do you snap up a bargain just before they come out, brand new F6??

Do you NEED it now? If so, buy it now. Can you wait? Then buy it later. Easy, really.

not really that easy JC, I NEED a ute now, but I CAN wait till early next year.
I really like the BF Tornado's but what if when the Orion is released I like that model more than the one i would have (BF) .
Know what I mean? If the Price is right, I will buy a BF.

So if you can wait, you don't need it, you just want it. Needing and wanting are 2 different things.

I'd wait till Orion MkII... Because some of the hitches that MAY occur will be sorted out... But for cheapest option, buy a BF MkII when Orion comes out...
