Question Car Wash Query

Hi there,
We have just recently bought a new Ford Focus and the user manual says to remove the aerial before using a car wash. The car wash we use is a Laser wash and has no brushes, so we were wondering if it would still be necessary to remove the aerial
Just a trivial query, but wondering if anyone can help us.

As Piotr stated, better safe than sorry. Might as well take it off for that piece of mind.

I was thinking about it a bit more and I would take it off because maybe the sensor that sensors the height of your car wont pick it up and hit it when it goes over the roof. If that makes sense

Default Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your replies. The sensor theory makes a lot of sense, we will be 'better safe than sorry' and remove it.
Cheers, Ma-n-Pa

struth, I didn't know that about the aerial. I took mine through an old style car wash the other week. I better check that my aerial is still there! (I gave up waiting at the DIY car wash after half an hour and with 4 cars in front of me still) God I hate Level 5 water restrictions....

LOL you guys crack me up

All too young to remember the big rotating brush washes (that damage the paint!!!!) It's designed to stop the aerial being snapped off by the rotating brush pure and simple. If it's a laser wash, there's no need to remove it for that reason, but I'd take off just to ensure it doesn't snag on any machinery.

Funny.

THOSE things are DAMN SCARY and are still around at some car wash places, anyone who used a brush type car wash (except on a hire car) is a fool. :togo:

haha, yeh those were the days. The was a shell servo on doncaster road a little while back that had a massive car wash. It would dry the car too!! Still, those rotating brush car wash's are still around. I NEVER use them with my car! High Pressure FTW!
