Hi folks,
While I was away for two weeks, the old man had to disconnect the battery because the panic alarm would randomly go off. Before I came back he put the battery on charge and when I got back all was good. Today I had the alternator replaced. The battery light had been going on and off for the past few nights and this morning it just stayed on. Picked the car up and bought it home and then the panic alarm saga started all over again. Have taken the battery out and am giving it a 12 hour charge. Does the panic alarm randomly going off indicate anything else? All entry points were secure and interior lights off when it kept wailing away. Cheers

how close are the remotes, maybe one of them has a dodgy switch, rather than the car

Spares are hidden away. Checked all buttons and they're not sticking. Maybe a low battery in one of the remotes?

For those interested all was fine until the panic alarm started going off again tonight. Check both of my fobs while it was going off and noticed on the spares the red light was flashing. Took the battery out of it and now it appears all is good (touch wood). My guess is the battery is cactus. So far so good, no late wake up calls.
Cheers

I remember reading here somewhere that when the battery on a remote starts to go flat and is within range of the car it will set the panic alarm off. Don't know why, seems a pretty bloody annoying way of letting you know if you ask me.

Appears to be programmed to go off only in the middle of the night too.
Cheers

i had a similar problem with my dad's fairlane where i had borrowed the car and was parked at a mates workshop, anyway the panic alarm kept going off, and i kept stopping it, until it got to the point where i walked and pulled the battery terminal off. Anyway the next day im at the same w/s in the same car and its happening again, im like ha? what the? at which point i went and grab the spare keys from the mechanic next door who was having a good old giggle.

This happened to me. Replace the remote batteries and it will fix it.
It is a real pain when it goes off at 1 or 2 in the morning.
