I had the same to choices when I got my car. I like luxury and having gadgets to play with but coming from an XF performance was important aswell.

What it came down to in the end was 2 things, I only wanted manual and I also only wanted chilli red paint.

I haven't looked back since the driving experience is unreal for what the car is and they surprise a lot of guys driving overrated 5L commodores.

The only choice to be made here is transmission type. If you want a manual then XR6 is the way to go, obviously if you dont mind autos then the Ghia is for you.

I had an EL Ghia and still miss its cruising ability now, highway, air con blasting and no worries in the world. IIRC it sat under 10l/100k's (trip even said 6.6 but could have been BS).

The EL Ghia is the best e series (non GT/sprint) by a mile. Only mechanical difference as far as I am aware was the headers. And 2kws is almost unnoticeable anyway.

If you can be bothered, find a EL Ghia for a good price and then convert it to a manual. That is a better option than stuffing about with fronts and interiors IMO. Swapping a ghia interior into a XR is not as easy as it sounds; to much work for the reward.
