The Holden Malibu is a year away from release in Australia. But Holden have a Twitter discussion on it..#malibureveal. Why cann't Ford do this with the new Focus and FG2 ???? it would get the cars in the public eye and discussion. FORD's advertising is again behind the 8 Ball.
To FF members who think I am FORD bashing again, I am not. FORD needs to get proactive with advertising etc.

Sounds smart for Holden to ramp up hype for it early. Good move.

Ford Australia have a great performance product, and FPV are out of this world, but in order for a consumer to know this they have to be a member of an online forum or scan Youtube to know what a great performance product Ford produce. You can forget about learning from Ford about how great their product is because their marketing is poor, and that is a great shame Last edited by StrikeTwiceXR6; 23-04-2011 at 10:32 AM. |

There was a discussion on the Ford asia pacific Facebook page with Jim Fields about the Fiesta and Explorer campaigns. Basically Ford felt that because of the nature of a "social media" campaign they would have to start early, 12 months or so. He also said it cost one tenth of that of a regular campaign.
I think Ford got a few advertising industry awards for their Fiesta campaign. So it'll be interesting to see if Holden just follows their lead or does something different.

B) Holden can do this becuase they dont have to worry about killing sales of the current model in the class.. Something Ford can not aford to do with Focus & Falcon!! |

I would love to own one but affording a $75,000 car - yeah right - probably never will in my lifetime! I can't even afford a $10,000 third-hand vehicle. |

If Ford don't want to spend a decent price on advertising on TV, they should use free media such as Youtue, Twitter and Facebook and appeal to the people that are purchasing cars now.
Forget the 60+ year olds who don't have as muhc of an interest in social media...people in their 20s and 30s should be their target. They'll form their customer base for the next 20-30 years at least, if they get it right...

Ford seem to be doing a pretty good job keeping everybody up to date on the T6 Rangers features and abilities with the use of youtube so to say their not doing it seems pretty redundant. They may not be doing with all their models but it is happening and we may see similar campaigns with their entire line up. |

About time someone showed a bit of forward thinking...for too long Ford and Holden have pretended that they are operating with a captive audience and that there aren't any competitors with perfectly acceptable family sized cars at sometimes less price with more standard features...
