Pod filter on EA fairmont ghia 3sp 3.9mpi)(? would it help ?

Not really, a pod might potentially let more air in but the engine doesn't require more air unless it is fairly modified. The biggest restriction in the airbox setup is normally the snorkle part. IMO get an XH XR6 snorkle (I think thats th one suited to the EA airbox design but just check) and get a decent panel filter like a K&N or finer filter etc, that way you have enough flow for 160+rwkw.

A pod also had the problem that if it i snot shielded, it will suck in hot air which will significantly reduce power. It will take a fair bit of work to make up a decent shield and duct, and as I said your engine just won't need that much air flow.
