Default Vfacts Jun 2011

Delivery of the new Territory commenced late June so should see an increase.

According to other posters many would be dealer registered with a 50/50 SYII and SZ split but hey a sale is a sale!

Quote:
The rumour circulating the Ford stand at Jeff's Shed spelled good news for the local manufacturer. For its first month on sale, the new SZ Territory has sold — reportedly — around 1600 units, which is a monthly figure rarely seen since the halcyon days of 2004.

Falcon sales are still awaiting a boost from the large car's advanced new LPG delivery system however. Ford has previously declared that the lack of any kind of alternative fuel system in the Falcon range was hurting sales.

"We had a good month this month [June]," answered Bob Graziano, Ford Australia's president, when that point was made after his presentation at AIMS this morning.

"I think if you look at where the [large car] segment has gone over the last 10 years... and the fact that we haven't had the LPI, so we're keenly looking forward to having that vehicle back in the portfolio. We also do not have a wagon in the Falcon anymore... we've got the Mondeo wagon.

"So we're continuing to look at where we go with Falcon; we think we've got the right powertrain combination to keep people in the large car segment, because we give them fuel-efficient powertrains: LPI as well as the EcoBoost in the new year."

The Ford president wouldn't discuss a sales split for the new LPG system, versus total Falcon sales.

~1600 sales is equal to about 2% market share on it's own!

Wonder how close to 10% market share Ford will be in June?!

Interesting, that ~1600 SZ Territory may well beat the Falcon for sales. But what that also means is that 1 in 10 sales of Falcons this year has been a supercharged Miami V8! (FPV sales are included in the respective sedan / ute sales).

Now, if only Ford would build a very high percentage of LPI to cater for the potential backlog. But, no they've decided not to. Just the same percentage as what was before... Lets hope they change their mind. Better to get a big rush of EcoLPi out there and reduce supply of petrol (to eat into the oversupply).

I hope it is a good month for locally made cars, in particular the local Fords and a good month for the imported Fords.

There will be demos, but there will also be registered pre-orders.

EcoLPI is due to enter production build mid July I think I read somewhere else in the forum.

EcoLPI is on sale now so they should be building it...

Territory sales arent that impressive due to the big demo build up.. Next month will be more interesting which Id say will be around the 1000 - 1100 mark. I doubt we will see 1600 every month...

Falcon should pick up.

Remember they are in the middle of a labor reshuffle. And July would be a better indication of public takeup of the new Territory.

Correct. I posted that info in the EcoLPi thread.

EcoLPi is being built. The offical sale / launch date is 19th July.

My concern is that Ford have decided to build only 10%-25% LPi engines. There has been no reason given (ie tank or part supply) why they aren't ramping up more. Essentially they are just doing what they always did.

To me, that is just foolish. There is a well documented backlog of petrol powered Falcons about. But there has been no LPG cars for 8 months. At the same time, it has been stated by Ford that between 20-25% of Falcons were E-Gas. Some have said 40% in the ute.

Potentially there is 2 (8 months x 25%) full months worth of backlog (if alternate vehicles haven't been bought) for the EcoLPi. Build 50-75% of Falcons (sedans and utes) as EcoLPi for 2 months and get the stock out there. This will help reduce the petrol backlog and potentially satisfy / translate to lots of LPG sales.

Priced at $2500 premium less a $2000 rebate that is a very good price. Even without a rebate, fleets will make the money back in double quick time.

Can you confirm if the price premium of EcoLPi is on top of regular retail price?

If so, on the assumption that the standard pricing ona XR6 is $42.000(?) plus $2500 for LPi, that is quite a price differential from current drive-away pricing.
It really worries me that if Ford have trouble shifting XR6's at $33 - 35K what it is going to be like trying to shift EcoLPi's at full whack, regardless of how good the system is? A $8,000 pirce difference buys a lot of fuel.

I presume fleet buyers would be getting great pricing though.

Hally, i'd imagine that it would be $2500 on top of the price of whatever deal is going. So, if its $34,990 driveaway, you would be looking at $37,490 driveaway. Then you get the $2,000 government rebate. So, your back to $35,490 driveaway.

Interested? Go chat to your local dealer!

Phillyc,

Funny you mentioned seeing the local dealer. I had a trip to Westside Ford at Hoppers Crossing and they would only quote on RRP, and really had no idea about the system in general, especially the spare tyre situation (I knew the answer but was testing).

We also talked about the run-out on the current Ranger and the price he gave me on a Wildtrak was way over what Ford have on there website.

My understanding is that this is a Ford owned dealership, and if so that is just appalling.

Cheers,

Andrew

The drive away price would be on old stock, it won't apply to new LPi XR6's.

But don't forget you can get a $2000 government rebate on any new car sold with LPG, so in real terms it should only cost you $500 for the LPi option.

Its $1000 for factory LPG.

Phillyc, it's not just ford that have to build and balance at a certain rate, you would have to consider Orbital's capacity to increase supply without compromising quality etc.
