Yep,

Its the Kwinana refinery that supplies ultimate to all states (for BP that is). I have been told by the Boys at the local that it is going to affect Premium as well. You guys over east at least have Optimax.

Apparently the breakdown happened more than 2 weeeks ago, and they only let the public know about it this weekend.

cheers

Peter

Yeah be interesting for us to see how this BP Ultimate deficiency pans out. I find it about strange that BP Ultimate gets transported all the way from WA for us.

Hmmm ... just filled my EL up with Ultimate.

got 60L of it too and the attendant said that there was only 100-200L of ultimate left in thier tank. He also said that we wouldn't see any more ultimate till mid december maybe :(

Oh well ... ive got enough to last me till after the dyno day

think there may be a bit of octane booster being used on dyno day, a tank wont last me for the week, especially when i live in Mandurah and i have to drive to Wangara to get there!....note to self...cruise control all the way

dam ricers...like 1.8 ltr lancers need premium...but those altezza lights, big wings, crappy mags etc need high octane fuel i guess...they need every advantage they can get

soz...i have a hate-hate relationship with lancers

[ saw an ad on tv not long ago for Vortex 98. havent been to a servo yet to see if they have got it.
]
Caltex 98 is not out yet, coming soon

All gone down Canning vale way. I used 95 ron from BP and wynns octane boost. No pinging and no noticable difference.

I have to go to wangarra from canningvale too.

Servo says maybe mid dec.

Sad to see how vunerable our fuel supplies are

They are, all fuel is unleaded, unless of course you have an old car then you'd use something Valvemaster.

I'd hate to think what would happen to mine if I tried to run it on regular. It'd be pinging more than Ricochet Rabbit on speed.

i tried 5 BP's saturday morning before going on the dyno. Ended up using premium with octane booster. There's flyers at all servo's about the shortage, i think you can register with BP and they sms you when ultimate is back at the pumps.

funny you should say that Dave. a lot of teh Escorts around who run on BP98 have all had problems in the last few weeks with plugs fouling up very quickly. my guess is that the formulas got stuffed, and they let the supply run dry until they could quickly fix it. however, they werent able to fix it as fast as they thought and had to go public. i wonder if they will compensate me for the three sets of plugs i have used in the last two weeks? _

There may be light at the end of the tunnel for us WA boys. Got the following as a reply I made to the Governments fuelwatch site.

Dear Peter

Thanks for your e-mail.

Many sites are receiving deliveries of small quantities of PULP and Ultimate through out the day, however as there is a shortage they selling the fuel very quickly between these deliveries. It would be difficult to keep track of which sites have PULP and Ultimate available and which sites do not. We have placed a notice on our website and in our daily fuel pricing e-mails advising consumers to ring the retail site to check if they have PULP before they go there.

BP has advised us that their refinery is now operational and will be making full PULP and Ultimate deliveries as of today. It may take a few days for retail sites to be fully stocked however.

Kind regards

FuelWatch

I hope this is true :

Peter

Any BP I went to this week had "pump unavailable" signs on each Ultimate bowser... Petrol was cheap though at 109.9 for the regular crap.

This is in Melbourne SE suburbs.

It's true. The plant was re-commissioned on Thursday 17. It will take a few days before we see normal levels at the pumps.
