Default First Ford you rode in, what sticks in your mind most?

Pretty simple question...what was the first Ford you rode in, and what sticks in your mind most about it.

Let's see who can name the earliest Ford! Remember...not just the earliest you have ever ridden in, but the first one you rode in and what it was.

Here's mine: a friend of mine had an RS2000 Escort. She was a few years older than me and we hung around a fair bit.
What sticks in my mind about it the most? The Scheel sports seats. This was 1982...having sports bucket seats in your car was a huge deal back then, and frowned on by the Plod (as were extractors at the time...they were actually illegal then in Queensland). The fact that the Scheel ones in the RS2000 were factory was amazing as well.

I loved the thing...it went hard, handled well, and those seats!

So...for me, it was 1982, an Escort RS2000...1980 model I think.

Two weeks later I went for a drive in a friends uncles 1915 Model T tourer...if that had been first, i'd really have something to brag about...

My dads XB V8 sedan.... i remember the v8 noise and power and the open gills on the bonnet. I was bought up with many XA, XB, XCs in the garage.

When I was very young back in the 1950's (1958) old man had a Model A two door fitted with a side valve v8 and hydraulics , almost no exhaust and it sounded fantastic as he flogged it around the neighborhood . Bloke who bought it wrote it off and did not walk away not long after

Mine's not too old, but my dads blue XE falcon. I was so young (under 10) so cant remember model names or anything, but it was manual. The best memory i had about it were the seats. I would jump in and sank a few inches into the seat, almost like a bean bag. It was so awesome, no other car was like it that i sat in.

Its strange, but till this day, im 25 now, still miss those damn old comfy falcon seats

Late 60's Cortina. Was small. Oh, and my five year old (at the time) sister stuck chewing gum all over the back of the front seat.

The diamond white XY GT that was owned by my uncle back in the early 80's. What sticks in my mind the most was the power it had. It was the most powerful car I'd ever been in at that time because my dad had always had 4's and 6's. It was from that moment on that I knew the blue oval had a hold of me.

My dad's (by this stage mums) 63 compact fairlane. The colour was close to (but apparently not) rose beige.
What do I remember most? Pure awesome.

Dads XE Fairmont, as XR6Runner said, those seats. I would have been 5-6, that rear seat was so comfy and the fabric was awesome. maybe not so good for todays standards. Plus it went for what it was, it ripped a damn good skid.

Dad had a 77 XC, loved the lines of the car (the slight bonnet hump especially) and the way it looked going down the road.

What really did it for me though was watching Dick Johnson and his Greens Tuff XE (and replays of Tru-Blu) in the ATCC.

My first car was an XD, still have a very soft spot for them.

Ford fairmont XW 1970 the one that i will be starting to restore hopefully soon, was not just my dads first car but our first family car.

First ride was in 1979 when we bought it, what i recall was the simplicity of this car, nice smooth ride & the reliability, a car you could rely on. And with the room to move inside, the auto column shift being a 3 on the tree gave plenty room to move legs, even stretch your legs around while driving.

My Pops XE Falcon, 6 Cylinder Automatic absolutely loved that car.

Just remember how comfortable it was and that despite not being the nicest Falcon on the road it was his pride and joy.

EL Falcon (the one that I owned) when the parents bought it in '99 (i think it was). Think that's what got me hooked on Falcons. Same day, different test drive was an NL 'Lane. Both just rode so nice and were so comfy

My Parent's XC wagon, I was about 2 when they bought it. The car was 12 mths old at the time.

The other Ford's I remember most were their XB Fairmont V8 sedan, then their ZH Fairlane, then their XD Fairmont Ghia - which I ended up buying from them as my second car ( I wished it was the ZH, but the XD was still a nice car)

1960 XK ford sedan owned by my eldest brother, not a bad car but those vacuum wipers were crappy when powering in heavy rain as it made it suicidal trying to see out of it.
(vacuum wipers stopped working under acceleration)

It would either have been the 89 EA Falcon GL that grew up with me or the 76 F100 XLT Custom (302 cleveland) my father still owns.
Thoughts of the EA: comfort. Thoughts of the F100: noise!!!
edit: parted out the EA at the start of this year and rebuilt my own car with it, so it lives on.

KE Laser GL.

It was a little blue hatch that my dad rented when we first arrived in Australia. I just loved the styling of it!

Also saw an EA Falcon GL parked next to it at the car rental place, and loved the styling of it too.

From that day forward, I was a Ford fan for life.

Rolled it around Lake Eppalock.

We were pretty schlaggered...but managed to flip it over and drive it home.

Those were the days.....

XM Falcon Wagon... Bought especially for me! Mum and Dad believed all new babies needed a station wagon to be carted around in, so they got one when I arrived in 1964! What I remember about it? It could tow Dad's home built Hartley cabin cruiser boat, but couldn't tow the caravan that replaced it!

dad`s maroon 1955 customline with a worked 272 Y block.
its what i had my first ever car ride in (1964) (though i dont remember that ride ) i do remember sitting in the kids seat that attached to the top of the front bench seat. i must have only been about 1yo ? and i think its my earliest memory of anything.
i can still remember the sound of that car as clear as if i heard it today.

hmmmmmmm..... strange that i can remember that stuff but i am flat out remembering what happened yesterday.

Company manager lent us his EA Falcon S-PAC light blue in 1991, to go from Horsham to Ballarat. I was 4 years old then, and fell in love with the car. All I knew was it was a big step up from riding around in a Datsun 180B as a 2 year old and a GH Sigma when I was 3. And I cried the morning the blue EA was returned and refused to get back in the sigma for a week.

My Grandfather had an orange XB 500 from new, however my fondest Ford memory was my Dad's company car around 1980. It was a XC Wagon running a V8, chocolate brown and had a automatic tailgate.

That automatic tailgate had the WOW factor for a little 6 year hold

Funny thing is, as much as I liked Falcon's I always preferred the red team as a young fella, cars such as HQ Premiers, LH/LX Toranas and my all time favourite, a V8 VH SLE.

But my dreams came true in 93 when dad got a job at Pivot Fertilizers. Brand spankin new EB2 GLI in '93, followed by an EF Gli in '96 and an EL sapphire in '98. Still remember the day each one arrived, the smell of the interior, how each model was better, quieter and more powerful than the previous. The EL served out until 2002 when dad was retrenched. Few of the employees wanted an AU at all so they held onto their EL's past their normal use by dates.
