As if the government would let a significant tax stream slip through their grasp. They will milk it for all it's worth no matter how unnecessary it is.

Before we go off blaming taxes and other avenues of "rort", here are a few numbers.

Average house price: (Usd, approx.)

Australia $319,000

America $152,000

Sydney $574,000

Hawaii $425,000

So you can see, Australia is not just more expensive for automotive purchases...

And Performax only do about 300 cars a year, so individual prices for Australian specific parts, labour, ADR testing/compliance, shipping is spread out over a very narrow margin...

So taking into account the almost double average house price, that $38,000usd truck, suddenly becomes a $80,000aud truck, then add the conversion costs...

there is you $120,000-odd RHD available truck...

F-150 is only available in petrol. Would be nice if they'd offer a diesel model. Horses for courses, I suppose

Only diesel 1/2 tonne is the RAM 1500 which has the same diesel engine as our Grand Cherokee (VM Motori 3L V6).

The only reason I know so much about these things is I've got a 3 year subscription to Diesel Power Magazine and they won't stop going on about RAM 1500 now with diesel lol.

Oh and our Ranger and the 3.2L "Powerstroke" got a big spread a few months back lol.
