Bumper stays on. Just the underneath cover has to be removed.

I have found a very large price variance between aftermarket tow bar fitters.
Mitsi charged around $990 when I got the Outlander new. My brother has a BMW M 4 wheel drive thing. His bar was around $4k but it actually electronically retracts behind the bumper when not in use. Didn't believe it till I saw it.

I briefly considered buying a BMW X3 until I discovered a towbar was a $5,500 option.

I ended up buying a genuine Ford kit inc module & harness from Bayford Parts on ebay for $650.
Getting it fitted & programmed at Ford this week as with the genuine kit the rear bar has to come off, and I can't be bothered! |

Prices people are quoting here are a bit eye-watering.

Hey guys, just went to rex gorell ford to get a price and book my car in for a tow bar install and they asked what year, make and model. When I told them 2016 fgx falcon, they told me I can buy the tow bar from ford, but that I'd have to get it installed elsewhere as they won't/don't install them. What the hell?

Carasel in Sydney seem to do a good job at a decent price.
Did my i30 wagon for $480. It was the most expensive of the derivatives available. There were other models of i30 prices fitted for $3xx. Of the 6 companies I called / emailed only 3 got back to me with a price and the other 2 prices were upper $6xx to lower $7xx. Pays to shop around!

tape up the lower guards so the bar doesn't scratch the paintwork the plastic screw plugs come out easy enough but the clip rail holding the top of the sides of the bar cover are difficult to remove, i broke 1 so google this before removing it the hole cutting is daunting but easy enough and if you do balls it up you can put a trim around it or as its under the bar its hard to see so just leave it the wiring it easy, unplug a tail light and put in the new loom i'd say its a 3 hour job if you take your time and don't rush it a local panel beater would probably remove the rear bar and cut the whole for a little bit of cash if you are worried

Sent off an email to Rex Gorell Ford asking why they won't fit the towbar to my '16 Falcon and got a reply stating that their service department don't fit accessory items in the workshop. Only their Pre delivery department does the fitments, and obviously, only to New cars. Weird???
