i have actually driven the xpt up to 160kph,,but it normally cruises at anywhere from 100 to 150 kph,,and it has been able to get to 200kph on the main western line

I drive accross a non traffic light train crossing everyday, one of the ones where you have to wait untill the gates are up and lights are off before you continue along the road.

The amount of times i see someone go accross too early or abuse me from behind because im waiting too long is amazing.

More people die when fatigued than on crossing!

Guys a lot of these seem to be happening on country level crossings that either have no signals or the weather conditions are very poor. Don't get me wrong, in no way am I defending anyone that did something wrong as I know all too well the results of stupidity, I was in the train accident in 2003 in Ballan where the train I was in hit a ute that had been left on the tracks by a drunk driver who was trying to get back to his mates after buying more booze. But I think that all of these incidents have to be looked at on their own merits. Whether that be driver error or infrastucture flaws.

Oh by the way you forgot to mention the goods train derailment in Benalla.

That train accident at ballan was depressing, I was in the Bush I herd the bang and I flew out to the road, im in the CFA. Seeing the amount of people ok on that train was amazing, the first thing I said to the first tanker that turned was I will be suprised if no one was dead. Lucky they wernt

No one one can cross those tracks in a car, cause they are so rasied!

Its just the fact there has been so many in so small of time frame

One of my mates was driving the train in the Benalla crash , was really lucky , only a few scratches , can't say much more at the moment , but it wasn't a driver fault. He and his mate were Very Lucky guys to be able to walk away.
