170000 kays later, and not a single rattle or squeak!!!

Every BA that I've hopped in at work has little bits broken or squeaking or rattling!

And I love the AU's that much now that I don't really want to cross over to BA for the next car. I'll be staying in an AU for as long as possible.

With ya 100%! We did the whole VT/VX thing for my wife's last car/family taxi! (it was a VX Berlina, 1 year old at the time) and as a result of that pleasant 1 and a 1/2 year ownership experience, will NEVER be going back to a Commodore again!

When I got my AU ute work .... I actually had my heart set on a BA ... found a decent AUII XLS EGAS ute on a car lot cheaper than the BA XL utes going around ... and this was on LPG with extra goodies as well.

Took it for a test drive around the Homebush Olympic site and I fell in lover straight away ... was bloody comfortable and very quiet to drive (before mods).

Still is comfortable to drive .... but louder now.

In standard form is was neat ... and I had the better grille in the ute as well.

Now 18 months on of ownership ... and about 80,000km later since then .... the ute has been modified bit by bit ... and has become a little more unique ... and I am extremely happy with it.

Was toying with the idea of upgrading recently ... but with everything I have done with the ute so far ... and pretty much troublefree motoring (only a couple of niggling issues that were fixed fairly easily) ... why trade up when I have a perfectly good work ute that also doubles as a fun toy to drive.

The AU model has grown on me ... would have to be one of the best vehicles I have purchased/driven.

Until I had the standard springs and shocks changed for XR8 units a few weeks ago, I didn't have a single rattle. Now the car is full of them.

Methinks there's a direct relationship between how hard the car rides, and the number of rattles you get.

Had squeaks in the front end after I put XR springs in my SR. Try spraying some CRC silicone spray on the front sway bar bushes (I sprayed quite liberally) and the squeaks are gone. Exceeeeeellllleeeeeeent!
