I wasn't aware that Kluger & Captiva are also 2WD & AWD options so it's probably better to be able to offer either.

Are the 2WD variants front or rear wheel drive in these cars?

Both fwd. Actually Holden only list it as 2WD, try finding where they state the drive wheels....I couldn't. Toyota is more open in stating drive is to front on the Kluger 2WD website.

Captiva was initially AWD only. I think they introduced the FWD variant after seeing how many RWD tezza's sell. Not sure about Freddy Kluger but I think the case was the same there.

Yep, both FWD.

The RAV4 is available in 2WD only and the new Outlander is going to be as well.

RAV4 is now available in 2WD but the AWD will remain on sale.

Companies are introducing FWD models to follow a growing trend of buyers who
don't require the AWD feature but are after more fuel economy and lower price.

One more thing, you can tow a 2300 kg load with a RWD Territory but
I seriously doubt any FWD only SUV would ever be up to that job......

Yeah what I meant was the RAV4 was available in '2WD only' format, not that it was all that you could get

I wonder how long it will be before these 2WD SUV's morph back into the traditional family wagon?

Hmm not a bad looking car and Toyota could chase the wagon buying fleets with that thing if they made it here, but adding another sort-of SUV to their range would confuse people even more.

They have no confusion in buying RAV4, Kluger and Prado in droves....

And what we wouldn't give to have Kuga and T6 Everest as well as Territory..

So True...Maybe Ford Oz needs to understand limiting a range of vehicles to stop internal cannabilisation also means you limit the overall choice to the buying public and hence they go elsewhere. A sale of a Ford, whatever the model is better then no sale at all.

Previously, Ford regions acted like separate entities with no cohesive global vehicle supply plan.
Now that Thailand and South Africa are coming on steam with new vehicles, our supply lines will
be much shorter with a suitable product mix for our market, that has to be welcome news.

Personally, the last two years have shot past at an incredible pace, while lack of product
may be hurting Ford's growth, the time frame to solve those issues is short in relative terms
and I'd hope by this time next year, we are all reveling in a Falcon/Territory lead revival.

Like an XR6 Territory you mean? Could be a goer but pass on the turbo I6, sales of that variant were ordinary and petrol consumption was quite a bit higher than the Falcon XR6T - chances are it would not have passed Euro 4.

Fit it out with XR interior (especially the seats), give it XR colours, the lip spoiler kit you mentioned, a little bit of a lowering job and the XR's rims and I reckon that would be a nice vehicle - wouldn't cost Ford the earth to bring to market either.

Call it 'Territory ST'

They then call it an F6X and sell 3 of them ...... once bitten and could not see it being a cheap alternative?

Would be good to have a sports version but I really doubt it would be done now unless it was just a sticker pack with some plastic bits thrown on.

yeh i was thinking XR style
F6X was a wasted opportunity, looked almost identical as a normal terry. i think if more effort had been put into that idea it would have sold more
price wise for the F6X was huge as well, keeping it to a slight premium over a falcon XR would be more inviting

would DEFIANTLY need lowering for sporty appearance, bright colours like Road_Warrior said and sportier kit otherwise id have no chance


Limited funds makes my dream just a dream :(

Problem is, the guards are designed for the higher ride height. Take it from the current 180mm to anything near Falcon height and it would look absolutely ****.

Well, Ford has dozens of new Territories registered in the same rego range as the above mules. Surely they can't all be mules? Seems like a lot.

There's also dozens of Falcons and Focuses registered. I'm guessing the Falcons may be FG2 mules?

I'm wondering whether FG II will get the new Territory dash, touch screen and round air vents,
could be great opportunity for Ford to align more parts, save money and freshen Falcon and Territory.
A variation of Territory's grille would change FG II's look completely, a master stroke against VE II?
Hope Ford steps up and does something surprising with Falcon while everyone's looking at Territory...

After seeing the more recent photos compared to the sketch in the original post, I am very dissapointed to say the least. Same ol tank with different lights front and back. I thought it was a complete new shape after seeing the sketch. Once again big dissapointment, this shape has been going since 04, will be 2011 next week, its about time it was a NEW car with NEW body, not the same ol thing with new lights.

Ouch, somebody's hard to please.. Have to remember this is an indigenous Ford Australia product, on a shoestring budget, for a miniscule market... they have been doing this for years with all their Falcons.

I think the idea of an XR6 type Terri would be a good thing. Cheap to implement, a recognised name, could share many interior pieces just like seats etc that have been mentioned. A 15mm lowering would be a good move too for a nice stance.

I like your thinking JP! Increased commanality allows for better product and quality.

Yeah, i'm wondering how the Terri grille would work on the FG2 and i reckon it could!

Actually, that suprising thing, I would love for it to be a diesel. Not that i want one for myself. But, gee it could set the sales alight!

Do we think that the 2.7L TD will be the actual motor we get? Which will be a good motor. Or do you think Ford might pull an almighty swifty and get the 3.0TD!

Considering all of these mules have the 2.7l then I don't think the 3.0l will even be an option - sadly.

Yeah, further up in the thread it had 2.7L which was obtained via the vic rego information. Wasn't sure if it was perhaps a decoy?!

I think we will see the 2.7L TD albeit with slightly higher outputs. Maybe 150kW/450Nm.

That would be good. Yeah, I checked about 50 of the "mules" (most are white, black or grey) and all the diesel ones had '276DT' in their VINs.
