Most likely a CAPA turbocharger kit. Cost close to $10,000 by the time you buy the kit and installation but you can put it on stock GEN 3 engines. Considering the power you get it's good value for money!

Very tidy and well done, wish someone would have a play with a Boss like this, VE 6.0L has been out what 2 months and already there is a bolt on and go Turbo kit, Boss has been out since late 2002 and there isn't anything like this evan on the radar very frustrating.

Isnt their any good american parts for the ford modular engines that can be moddified to suit the Boss? There should be all sorts of components over here readily available as this engine isnt entirely new. well, as far as I know.

I agree, I saw a Vy Senator a few months ago in a street commo's mag that had a ls-2 that was equipped with a full twin turbo kit by APS, didnt waste time developing that! stockish motor and was puttin out over 450KW at the wheels!

Default Holden VE Recall

Did anyone hear about the VE recall for fuel issues. I did a quick search on here but didn't find any posts relating.

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20607413-2,00.html

You spend 1 billion dollars and still get faults, just goes to show that nothing is ever perfect!

Yea I did search for recall. It did say my search was too broad and there were too many related subjects cause I searched for VE recall.
Sorry about that.

look at the recall webpage...............Holden has 3 recalls in the most recent 50.............Honda has more recalls and toyota had 4 recalls. Overall the majority of those recalls were from Euro and Jap manufacturers.

Toyota also had many recalls on its Camry in America. One could even say that Australias Camry/Aurion are not a series one but a series 2, since its been out in OS markets for a while (and its bugs fixed).

Its understandable that the car gets recalls. I have no issues with that. I prefer the fact that the manufacturer has the responsibility to recall items that are faulty or safety hazards.... does anyone know how many the EA had? I imagine there would be a fair few when it first came out..

Only on the v8 models of the new car something about fuel lines could spring a leak.

Default VE Commodore Issues - Drive.com.au biased?

Drive.com.au Link

LS1's Reaction

Have a read of both - wasn't long ago we were saying drive was biased to Holden now LS1.com is claiming drive are biased against Holden. WTF, I'm confused.

Drive.com.au aren't biased in this article.

Drive is stating the mere facts.

The VE (like all brand new models) has a few problems that need tweaking.
I think it's hardly worth even bringing up, other than for referential purposes.

If people aren't aware of the problems, how can they look out for them?

One of the biggest problems Holden is having which Drive did not report is the no start problem. Seems to be impacting a lot of VE Commodores.

All I have to say about this is what I was sent b7y a work mate, describing the types of people particular brand owners are. I found it highly relevant:

Ford - You still live in the 70's, trying to cope with the 90's (don't even mention the millennium). A loyal, diligent worker, but baffled by office politics and labour policies. Next car will probably also be a Ford.

Holden You are the ultimate on-road ******. You think your 80s model Commodore is a V8 supercar, OR you think by owning a Barina you’re a true Holden fan. You’re either a redneck or a way-too-standard family parent – but either way, you most likely drive like you’re the only person on the road. You’re even ignorant enough to argue that the new Commodore is better than the new Ford.

Ford have the same quality problems, but at least they don't go making BS statements about how great their quality is hoping that once the cars go on sale that no one will notice. I think if Holden didn't crow about how high quality the VE is then this article wouldn't have appeared. Of course journos will react to statements that are just pure marketing dribble that can't be backed up. Better off to say nothing atleast then no one will try to prove you wrong.

They have to now though.

With Toyota proudly stating their plans for world domination, Ford and Holden have to talk their cars up, and rightly so!

Give me a real aussie car over a mouse-driven v/\gina-mobile in a FWD.

But they also have to choose when is the right time to open the gob.
Never boast about quality when you release a new car, because things always pop up.
Wait for the dust to settle, then make comments.

More negative press about the VE

The author of this article clearly doesn't know his stuff as it is stated that "They (Holden) probably picked the worst possible time to release an eight-cylinder car, albeit a relatively efficient one," he said. What about the Alloytech V6 engine?

The eight cylinder VE isn't the problem. It is the V6 VE which is the problem - it is slower and thirstier then the corresponding VZ model.

Actually the 6's are more economical, its the 8's which use more fuel.

Default VE fuel efficiency tested

The Carsguide site has a report where they took the VE performance range for a 1200km crawl to test fuel.
No spurprises that despite the "safety driving" the GTS guzzled 8.6L/100km.
Worst was the WM caprice at 10.4L.

how is that no surpirse? I'm very surprised that a 307kw car would only use 8.6?
