Hi Guys,

The seatbelt mod is done! I have sent the pics to Casper to post. I'll try to attach one of the finished product.

Stay tuned for the procedure and photos.

Cheers,
George

I have an AU series 1 Fairmont, and it has the belt adjusters on both the passenger and drivers side. Come straight of the assembly line with them. It was not optional. Build May '99. Don't know if that is helpful :

Does anyone else with the non-adjsutable belts have a huge gouge in the plastic where the belt comes out? Mine is quite large, the belt has cut a good centimeter out of the part. Does anyone know how much this part is from ford?

Cheers Nic

Just to confuse everyone, my car is a feb 99 model Fairmont, Cruise, power windows front and back. No seat belt adjustment.
My mums car is an oct 99 model Forte. No cruise, front power windows, and seat belt adjustment.
Why would they have them in the low series but not the high series?

I wrote the "how to" brooksy. It was on the old aufalcom.com site but it needes to be posted here also in my workshop thread "GK's Futura Wagon." I'll try to get it in there tonight if I get time.

If it doesn't turn up, give me a PM and I'll get to it.

Cheers,

There was an upgrade in 10/99 on the forte range etc. they got smartshield (coded keys) and there were a few other things as well, that might be one of those things they did.

Front power windows and stuff like that might be part of the upgrade too

Mine had this when I bought it. From memory the part was around $30 from Ford.

just searching on the net and there was an "upgrade" in may 99. This might be it cos it seems to tie in to when some people have them, I know the classic range was released 10/99...

another clue might be the different keys (non coded smartlock to coded smartshield)
my wifes 9/98 futura has the ef/el key amy 10/99 has the same as series 2 and wont start if I used my el base key.

I've written down the procedure I followed, I'll link that all up with the photos as best as I can, with the result hopefully of a step by step process.

I'll get back to you all in a few days.

Thanks UK, but this one was one of my first, in 2007. It was one heck of a thread mine!

Christmas was great, and thank God we didn't get both our AUs golf balled with the hail storms we had.
