Your theory is flawed.. sorry...

Just went for a drive in my AU....

Fuel icon has the bowser handle on the right but an arrow on the left pointing to the left of the car...

I think this theory has some exceptions. That's an EL guage. They have the fuel door on the left (as it says on the tacho) and the nozzle of the pump on the right in the picture.

Falcons have had an arrow next to the bowser icon pointing Left for years
I am amazed at number of people that say they didn't know this when I tell them, my taxi drivers mostly....

Im not even gonna check because, in reality, WHO CARES !!! If you know your car, you will know what side your filler is on.
