I might get abused but, I have a hatch (MY08 - built 07) and I like it - the look and drive. The sedan however, looks like crap

I too love the looks of the Liberty, and if I was looking for a car now, I'd get one.

If I was looking for a smaller sedan though, it'd be the current Mitsubishi Lancer.

It is criminal that these Japanese manufacturers keep getting away with bringing out these hideous designs, honestly this thing is that ugly you would swear it was meant to have a Ssangyong badge on it.

The only thing more criminal than these ugly Japanese cars, is the amount of ignorant plebs out there that buy them by the boat load. Oh and as for the STI, If it looks anything like that, I couldn't care how quick it is, it's still uglier than an old witch's wart

Those vents are where the rear fog lamps go in the European countries (same as the Liberty sedan)

There is very little hope indeed that Subaru will come out with an attractive vehicle for the Liberty/Outback replacement in 2009.

In my opinion, the aussie cars are among a decreasing number of decent looking cars left on the market.

Subaru has certainly lost the plot in recent times.

WOW! Subaru have really succeeded in killing the Impreza & its 'racer' image! First they brought out the hatch that looks almost identical to a Mazda 3, then they bring out the sedan that looks like a cross between a crappy old holdwoo Lacetti/Viva & Toyota Yaris from the back end.
Way to go Subie.. They certainly know how to scare away the young people. :

This is terribly disappointing. As a past owner of a MY01 Liberty, I know how nice these cars are to drive, I would have thought the design team would be getting better and better.

Things are looking rather bleak for Subaru ATM.

There will be no STI version of the sedan.

Yes, they look like crap, the whole Impreza range does, but AFAIK they are selling them in higher numbers than what they have in the past, so stupid people are still buying them. Or maybe they have vision problems.

I think this new version will make older versions hold their resale better.

Subaru have got a decent name behind them, why do they skimp out on appearance?

From observation, the fact that people buy Corollas and Camrys only supports the fact that people do not appreciate market choice, as may be the case with the Impreza sedan.

Mazda and Ford both offer superior options over Toyota's small and medium car offerings, but people flock towards Toyota.
Sure, it's important to have a reliable car, but when I drive, comfort is very important to me, and after coming out of a Camry, I have felt like I've been sitting on a wooden church pew with nails sticking into my back.

Subaru may have wanted to tone down their racerboy image to appeal to a wider demographic. A collegian of my cousin got wiped out because he was a tool in his WRX in the wet. Their image was not as good. Perhaps a boring, toned down look is aimed to appeal to more. It has worked for Toyota for a long time, I perhaps it's worth a shot.

I seen one of these up close when I dropped my WRX in for a service today. It looked so bloody crap compared to the CS9 it was parked to. They have seemed to have got the performance right, now they just need to bring out a good looking car.

Subaru have said from the start that they want to ditch the boyracer image and it has worked. They are selling heaps of Imprezas but have lost a lot of WRX sales which really is no surprise.

They might be quick etc, but they look absolutely horrible. If I wanted a fast four awd, couldn't go past an EVO, with whats available on our market.

I saw the sportier version of that today (WRX? I dont really follow rice). The front as said looks pretty much the same but the back doesnt look to bad in my opinion. I loved the colour though, a really deep dark blue. Sorry I didnt get pics, I was on the phone.

Well what can you say.

It looks horrible. I think that the new model looks alright but now this.

Recently looked at a naturally aspirated suby 4 and i have to say in liberty form they are absolutely gutless compared to the whole class minus the koreans.

Saw a new ralliart today and oh it looks so good!
Give me an evo anyday!
